Abstract: Extended annotation Every year, a large number of historic buildings and architectural monuments are lost. Some of them are destroyed with time, other lose their historical value as a result of reconstruction, and some are destroyed in order to free up space for a new construction. Nowadays, the adaptation and efficient use of historic and industrial buildings in a modern city is an urgent problem. Giving industrial buildings new functions makes it possible to maintain and preserve them as architectural monuments. This is a sensible solution to the issue of restoring buildings that are in an emergency state. Object of research: The object of study is the industrial environment of Kryvyi Rih city. The subject of research is theoretical concepts and practical models of adaptation of industrial areas to the modern changes in the urban environment; the latest architectural and planning means of humanization of industrial territories. The aim of the master’s thesis is the humanization of the industrial environment, creating of a multifunctional space in the urban environment that will meet the needs of the population. Research results: the practical experience of enabling abandoned industrial buildings with new functions has been analyzed. The factors influencing the formation of new spaces have been identified and determined. Theoretical concepts and practical models of adaptation of industrial areas to modern changes in the urban environment have been used; design solutions and ideas that will be the results of this diploma thesis can be considered as a possible option for the development of the present urban area and the use of a fragment of a complex of industrial facilities.
