Abstract: The expressway is intended only for non-rail motor vehicles and is built without direct access to the adjacent areas or to the surrounding buildings. They provide the transfer of internal traffic flows to external traffic. Expressways run beyond higher urban units. At the same time, city public traffic is not allowed by them, except for express (high-speed) bus routes. Prefabricated roads perform a transport and service function and, for the most part, transfer traffic from certain areas of the territory to expressways or divert targeted traffic from them to a specific area. They pass within the boundaries of smaller urban units - neighborhoods (neighborhoods). Prefabricated roads are intended for rail and non-rail MPT. Service lines perform a service function and provide access to residential buildings, public facilities, manufacturing plants, warehouses, etc. Service lines are not designed for through traffic. They are used in existing buildings as city avenues (axes of urban areas) with the advantage of public function. Non-motorized highways are designed for cycling or walking. The network of these roads is formed by bicycle or pedestrian paths, auxiliary lanes for bicycles and pedestrians, sidewalks, passages, crossings (including underground or aboveground), stairs, etc. On these roads it is possible to use the so-called "quiet" highways, which allow the maintenance of mechanical traffic under strict restrictive conditions. One of the main factors influencing the assignment of each street and road to a certain category is its functional purpose. The category of a city road is determined by the speed of traffic on it, the nature of construction along this road, the location of recreation areas, ie completely determines the planning structure. The purpose of this classification is to divide traffic into homogeneous traffic flows due to the functional significance of the streets. To increase the capacity of city streets and the organization of traffic, it is necessary to unify the rolling stock, ie to make it homogeneous. This approach will allow to distribute traffic on separate highways of the city. When designing city streets, calculations that determine the minimum number of elements of the lumbar profile of the street and their main dimensions are mandatory. These calculations allow the presence of a feasibility study and assessment of the capacity of each street road. High-speed highways provide transport links between industrial and planning areas, as well as airports, the nearest suburbs and recreation areas, and the city center. Public express transport, passenger and car are allowed on such highways. There is no local traffic on this category of roads (tram, freight transport, etc.). Estimated speed - 80 km / h in the city, on the outskirts - up to 100 km / h, in the suburbs - 120 km / h. High-speed highways have 4-8 lanes with a lane width of 3.75 m. The main roads of regulatory traffic provide transport communication between the districts of the city. On these roads all intersections are made on one level. In some areas, freight transport is preferred, but not on all roads. Such highways are designed as general purpose roads. Estimated speed - 80-100 km / h. 2-4 lanes 3.5 m wide are arranged. Local or side exits are obligatory on such roads. Main city streets provide communication between residential, industrial and public centers, as well as communication with external roads. The main mode of transport on these roads is public passenger and passenger. Recommended traffic intensity - 100 transport units / hour. On such streets, separate lanes for passenger transport must be allocated. All intersections are arranged on the same level. On such roads, 4-8 lanes 3.5 m wide are recommended. Recommended speed - 80 km / h, in some areas - 60 km / h and the mandatory presence of dividing strips, ie markings. The main streets of district significance provide transport communication within the planning structure of the city for the connection of industrial enterprises with public centers, as well as with the main streets. The object of research is the main streets of Lviv. The subject of research - traffic flow indicators. The purpose of this master’s qualification work is to investigate the influence of traffic conditions on the change of traffic speed using the program "PTV VISSIM 8". As a result of the conducted researches the optimal parameters of the street and road network are determined. Key words - traffic organization, main street, traffic speed. References. 1. Pavlova I.
