Abstract: In the introduction, it is shown that photoelectric LED lighting installations are today an effective and cost-effective option for covering the needs of street lighting inside cities due to the increase in the cost of electricity and fossil fuels. Their use is appropriate not only for places without access to electricity, but also for the renewal of urban lighting, where lamps powered by alternating current have not yet had competition. This is especially relevant in areas with outdated or worn electrical installations. The first chapter describes the structure of network and autonomous street lighting systems, their features, advantages and disadvantages, and the state of outdoor lighting in populated areas of Ukraine. The object of research is the transformation, accumulation and use of solar energy by street lighting systems. The subject of research is the types and configurations of street lighting systems using solar energy. The purpose of the study is the analysis of energy-saving systems for street lighting using solar energy. The second chapter is devoted to the description of the main components of street lighting systems using solar energy, electric light sources - lamps, solar photovoltaic panels, batteries and electronic control systems. In the third chapter, perspective algorithms of energy management in solar street lighting systems are proposed. In the fourth chapter, a comparative analysis of the energy efficiency of two variants of autonomous lighting installations using distributed and concentrated generation and accumulation of electrical energy is carried out. In the latter case, in order to reduce the installed capacity of solar photovoltaic panels and the capacity of storage batteries, additional electricity generation using a gasoline-electric generator set was used, and options with different sizes of the photovoltaic part of the system were considered. The evaluation of the economic efficiency of options for street lighting systems using solar energy was carried out based on the analysis of the energy potential of solar radiation taking into account the climatic conditions of the territory, in particular, the settlements of the Western region of Ukraine. The conducted studies showed that due to the significant cost of gasoline, the gasoline-electric part of the system should be used as rarely as possible, that is, the design of such an autonomous lighting system should be carried out in the calculation, first, for the use of the photovoltaic part of the system. Keywords: energy saving system, street lighting system, energy management, LED, solar battery, sensor.
