Abstract: Due to good efficiency and power, the popularity of diesel engines is constantly growing. A large number of modern studies are aimed at reducing the level of emissions of harmful substances from diesel car engines. The installation of an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system made it possible to significantly reduce NOx emissions. The efficiency of the EGR system is achieved due to the recirculation of up to 30% of the cooled exhaust gases back into the intake manifold of the engine [10]. Thus, EGR reduces the combustion temperature of the fuel-air mixture in the cylinders, thereby reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides. In this work, a study of the efficiency of the EGR heat exchanger when the parameters of the cooling system are changed. The object of research is a computer model of the EGR system cooler. The subject of research is thermal processes inside the computer model of the EGR heat exchanger. The purpose of the study: on the basis of the constructed computer model of thermal processes, to determine how the parameters of the engine cooling system affect the temperature of the exhaust gases. The principle of the cooling system operation together with the EGR system of a diesel engine is considered. The parameters of the cooling system affecting the efficiency of the heat exchanger are determined. The method of calculating thermal processes in the SolidWorks Flow Simulation environment is described [10]. Gathering of the necessary information, simulation of the experiment and analysis of the obtained results were carried out.
