Abstract: Yatsenko A.S.; Havryliak V.V. (supervisor). «Study of the biological activity of propyl-4-aminobenzothioate in vivo». Master`s thesis. - Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv, 2023. Extended abstract Study object - propyl-4-aminobenzothioate. Scope of research – biochemistry of living organisms. Goal of research – synthesis and study of the biological effect of propyl-4-aminobenzothioate on the antioxidant defense system of rats. Thiosulfonates are substances of the class of organosulfur compounds, which in recent years have attracted considerable attention of scientists due to their unique chemical properties and various applications. The most famous thiosulfonates include the substance allicin, which is an important biologically active substance of plants of the genus Allium (garlic), from which it got its name. Allicin has scientifically important properties, in particular, it acts as a powerful antimicrobial substance and exhibits antitumor activity. However the instability of allicin when heated and its short half-life create problems for its use. Therefore, on the basis of this and other natural substances, the newest stable synthetic analogues of thiosulfonates were developed - esters of 4-aminobenzenethiosulfonic acid - a stable remote derivative of allicin. Previous studies have shown a wide range of biological activity of synthetic esters of thiosulfonic acids, the indicators of which often exceed the effectiveness of natural analogues. Also, among synthetic thiosulfonylates, there are already substances that are offered as new and highly effective means of protecting plants from microorganisms and insects, plant growth regulators, biocidal additives to various products, preservatives for fruits and vegetables, substances that protect against radiation, and medicines. Propyl-4-aminobenzenethioate is an understudied thiosulfonyl derivative, but it is known to exhibit antimicrobial properties and act as a plant growth regulator. Considering the fact that thiosulfonates also exhibit antioxidant properties, this paper investigated the effect of propyl-4-aminobenzenethioate on the antioxidant defense system of rats. In the main part of the work, the influence of the PTS substance on the content of proteins in the blood plasma, liver and kidney tissues of experimental animals was studied, which generally increased in the experimental group. The effect of the substance on the activity of enzymes of the antioxidant system, such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase, was investigated, which is manifested in a different change in their activities compared to the control. The levels of free radical oxidation products and intermediate products of antioxidant transformations, namely reduced glutathione, TBC-active products and lipid hydroperoxides, under the influence of PTS were also determined. The experimental part of the work describes the methods by which the research was conducted, as well as the described substances and reaction products necessary for the chemical synthesis of the substance under study. In the calculation part of the work, the material calculation of the production of 1 kg of propyl-4-aminobenzenethioate is given. The main stages of this production are dissolution, alkylation, vacuum distillation of the solvent, filtering and drying of the ester. In accordance with the material calculations, a basic equipment and technological scheme for the production of the substance under study is proposed. In the economic part, calculations were made, which described the costs necessary for conducting research within the framework of this work and its economic feasibility. Formulated conclusions for the work are based on the analysis of literary data and experimental research, as well as on the theoretical calculation of material and economic costs. Key words: S-esters of thiosulfonic acids, propyl-4-aminobenzenethioate, blood, liver, kidneys. ? List of used literary sources: 1. Petrovic V, Nepal A, Olaisen C, et al.
