Abstract: In the diploma work, the effect of cationic polysaccharides as flocculants in the technology of cleaning food production waste was investigated. Flocculation is the process of formation of non-permanent loose aggregates of indefinite shape from small particles of the dispersed phase, which are in a suspended state in a liquid or gaseous medium. Flocculants are substances that cause the above-described process with the purpose of further precipitation of the formed aggregates. The effect of cationic polysaccharides chitosan and cationic starch as flocculants for precipitation from aqueous dispersions of silicon dioxide was studied. Turbidimetric studies of the influence of medium pH and the concentration of flocculants - polysaccharides on the efficiency of silicon dioxide flocculation were carried out. It is shown that effective flocculation of silicon dioxide by cationic polysaccharides occurs at pH of the medium with the addition of HCl and NaOH until the pH is approximately equal to 5.0. It is shown that when using both chitosan flocculant and cationic starch there is an optimal concentration, above and below which the efficiency of silicon dioxide flocculation decreases. In order to find out the composition of the formed sediments and their compliance with theoretical conclusions regarding the explanation of the flocculation process and the efficiency of the binding effect of the flocculant, IR-spectroscopic and thermogravimetric studies of the sedimentation products were carried out. The economic calculations of this study allow us to draw conclusions about the possibility and expediency of conducting this type of scientific work in scientific laboratories.
