Abstract: The technology of triacetin is considered in the master’s qualification work. Chemistry, kinetics and thermodynamics of triacetin synthesis were analyzed based on literature sources. A comparison of triacetin technologies using different methods was made. Their advantages and disadvantages are given. A basic technological scheme for the production of triacetin is proposed. It is proposed to use a water-glycerin mixture as a raw material. These are by-products of the hydrolysis of vegetable oils in the process of obtaining biofuel. This method of obtaining triacetin is optimal, since it uses by-products as raw materials. A small amount of p-toluenesulfonic acid is used as a catalyst in this process. The catalyst does not significantly affect the composition of the reaction products. This makes it possible to conduct the process without additional cleaning from traces of the catalyst. The material and heat balance of the process of obtaining triacetin by esterification with acetic acid of biofuel production waste was calculated. Cost norms (cost coefficients) for raw materials, reagents and coolants have been determined. The estimate for conducting experimental research is calculated.
