Abstract: Urban landscape is a rebuilt natural landscape. In the course of urban development, it is inevitable to change certain elements of the natural landscape (relief, vegetation, water balance, etc.). Modern technologies allow building settlements in almost any landscape conditions, transforming the natural landscape and forming a new one. With the development of human civilization, the territorial growth of cities, the increase in the number of storeys and building density, the ecological and recreational value of urban and suburban green spaces has significantly increased [1]. The development of landscape gardening art was closely related to the development of civilizations. Since ancient times, people have not only settled in favorable natural and landscape conditions, but also sought to create corners of wildlife - gardens and parks near settlements [13]. In conditions when the ecological situation is deteriorating and the structure of public life is becoming more complicated, there is a need to modernize existing and build new landscape recreational spaces. Study object – architectural and functional structure of urban parks. Scope of research – trends and modern approaches to the content and design of parks in Ukraine and the world. Goal of research – to investigate design trends and develop the design of Ivan Franko Park in Sambir. Parks and gardens have accompanied humanity from the most ancient civilizations. During this time, various approaches to the functional, figurative and compositional solution of landscape recreational facilities have been formed. The typological structure of parks is diverse, which is divided by size, location, functional content, natural and landscape conditions, and methods of forming park landscapes. After a thorough analysis of the history of the emergence and development of park formations, their functional content and current trends and approaches to the creation of such objects, my project for the development of landscapes and objects of the Ivan Franko Park in Sambir was developed. First of all, I wanted to offer a wide palette of functional areas that will invite visitors and provide quality recreation and pastime. The following main functions were identified: rest with children, sports, cultural and entertainment, entertainment, recreation and memorial. In general, the design solution provides for the creation of a single compositional structure of the park saturated with a variety of functions, spaces and opportunities for full rest and recreation not only for Sambir residents but also for guests of the city. Keywords: park, landscape, recreation, public space. References. 1. Bunin A.V., Savarenskaya T.F. Istoriya gradostroitel’nogo iskusstva: v 2 t.
