Abstract: The invention of railway transport brought with it a new type of architecture that required new design considerations, solutions and components. Effective design of a railway station should create a homogeneous structure and a logical flow of passengers, which will allow easy, uninterrupted, reliable and safe access to trains, wait and transfer to other modes of transport. The railway station in the city of Kramatorsk was chosen for this work. A study of the station territory, transport and pedestrian connections, zoning of the territory was carried out, for a more in-depth analysis, the history of the development of this territory and its impact on the life of the city were studied. This project proposes the transformation of the station square and the railway station itself. The object of research is Railway stations. The subject of the research — Techniques and principles of railway station design. Limits of the study: o Chronological: 20th - 21st centuries; o Territorial: Ukraine and other European countries. The purpose of the study is to analyze the architecture of railway stations, to investigate modern approaches in design. Research methods: o the work of thematic literature and information sources; o comparative analysis of existing objects; o method of experimental design: on the example of a diploma project. This work made it possible to highlight some landmarks, development trends and lines of research that still need to be deepened to study the complexity of railway 6 stations. In the meantime, this study helped to understand that one of the most promising ways to achieve good results is to integrate the complexity of the "technological machine" into urban mechanisms. This means being aware of the implications of technical choices in the planning of the railway station space, which is more and more seen as a "people space", and then learning the skills of technology to coexist with the places and habits of traditional cities within an architecturally urban-coherent space. Keywords: railway station, transformation, territory zoning, railway stations of Europe and Ukraine, railway transport.
