Abstract: The study analyzes the main approaches to interpreting the concept of "military alliance," investigates the characteristic features of military alliances, and presents their typology [4; 6]. The research explores the major modern military alliances in the Euro-Atlantic region, including NATO, PESCO, NORDEFCO, FINABEL, and the Alliance of Ukraine, Great Britain, and Poland [1]. The work characterizes key intergovernmental organizations in the Central Asian region, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) [5]. Additionally, it describes small military alliances in the Indo-Pacific region such as ANZUS, QUAD and AUKUS [2]. An assessment of the effectiveness of modern military alliances is conducted based on defined criteria. The study highlights external and internal challenges in the functioning of military alliances and provides recommendations to enhance their effectiveness. The degree of Ukraine’s involvement in military alliances is analyzed, including its integration into NATO, participation in the Lublin Triangle, the Alliance of Ukraine, Great Britain, and Poland [3]. Study object – international military alliances as instruments of guaranteeing global security. Study subject – peculiarities of the functioning of modern military alliances in different regions of the world, their role in ensuring international security. Goal of research – to conduct a comprehensive study of the main modern military alliances in different regions of the world, to assess their effectiveness and ability to influence international politics, and to consider the prospects for Ukraine’s involvement in military alliances. Based on comparative studies, it is concluded that NATO is the most effective military alliance of our time, the limited level of effectiveness of PESCO, NORDEFCO, CSTO and AUKUS is established, and the low level of effectiveness of FINABEL, the Alliance of Ukraine, Great Britain and Poland, SCO and QUAD is determined. The main problems in the functioning of military alliances have been identified, including the widespread occurrence of armed conflicts, inefficiency of the modern international security system, disregard for norms of international law, difficulties in decision- making regarding the use of force against adversaries, the hybrid nature of contemporary military conflicts, as well as internal disagreements among allies and funding issues, among others. A positive forecast has been made regarding further Euro-Atlantic integration for Ukraine, which will largely depend on the resolution of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Ukraine’s future strategy of interaction with military alliances may include pursuing a course of joining NATO in parallel with the implementation of the strategy of small alliances and the development of various forms of cooperation with other military alliances. Key words: NATO, PESCO, NORDEFCO, FINABEL, Alliance of Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Poland, Lublin Triangle, SCO, CSTO, ANZUS, Quad, AUKUS, USA, Ukraine, Russian-Ukrainian war. References. 1. Гбур З.
