Specific admission requirements: Admission rules for postgraduate study set requirements for admission, which take into account the peculiarities of educational-scientific programme (ESP). Applicants should provide scientific papers with topics (content) that are relevant to the features of the ESP. These works according to the rules include: scientific works and patents for inventions (copyright certificates on inventions) / in case of absence of scientific works and patents-abstract. The entrance exams are conducted on the basis of the entrance examination programs, the content of which takes into account the features of the ESP. These programs are published on the University's website three weeks before the start of the entrance campaign, are reviewed annually and updated if needed. This is done centralized by order of the Rector before the entrance campaign. The entrance examinations for postgraduate studies are conducted by subject commissions (3-5 persons), which are approved by the order of the Rector. These commissions include Candidates of Science (PhD) and Doctors of Science who carry out scientific research in their respective specialty and are responsible for the ESP of PhD students training. These commissions may include representatives of scientific institutions with which there are concluded agreements on conducting joint scientific activities and / or on joint supervising of postgraduates studies and / or on joint implementation of educational-scientific programme, or with which doctors of philosophy are trained under a common ESP, agreed between the University and the scientific institution.
Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning: Provided that the previous level has been obtained in another country, nostrification, which is carried out by Lviv Polytechnic, is required. There are no mechanisms for recognition of non-formal and informal education.

Characteristics of the educational program: The goals of the educational-scientific programme (according to specializations) lie in the necessity to deepen theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the specialty, to develop philosophical and linguistic competences, to form universal research skills sufficient to conduct and successfully complete scientific research and further scientific activities, as well as relevant competences, sufficient for the effective fulfillment of the scientific, educational, managerial and innovative nature tasks for the purpose of further successful employment of specialists in the sphere of education / pedagogy. The educational-scientific programme covers a wide range of modern innovative vectors for the development of the theory and practice of professional education, which forms an updated theoretical and applied base for scientific research and provides for the formation of critical and creative thinking of future doctors of philosophy in the field of general pedagogic education. The academic units of the University serve as experimental sites for testing research in accordance with specializations of professional education and potential employers of graduates.
Gained competence: Knowledge, skills and understanding. Knowledge of methodological requirements to the preparation and conduct of various organizational forms educational studies, training methods in professional school and basic requirements for their choice. Knowledge of the andragogical paradigm basics in modern education, approaches to providing adult life-long learning activities, ways of implementing of competent, communicative, contextual and task-based approaches in formal, non-formal and informal adult education. Knowledge about the structure of pedagogical technology, technology levels, quality of modern technologies, scientific bases of pedagogical technologies. Knowledge of the essence and purpose of professional mobility and features of its formation in future specialists during training. Knowledge about technologies of educational interaction organization with an adult student; selection of content, methods and forms of work with an adult learner in different educational models; ensuring control and accounting of general educational and professional knowledge and skills of students in the context of the andragogical paradigm. Knowledge of methodological approaches, principles, conceptual apparatus, analysis and design of the experimental pedagogical research results. Knowledge of the types of the educational process planning, their structure and content, the algorithm of pedagogical staff attestation. Knowledge of basic requirements for the thesis research organization, basics of theoretical research, basic requirements to empirical research.
Ability to analyze the theoretical foundations of teaching methods in higher education, to demonstrate a deep knowledge of the regularities, principles and methods of teaching in higher education. Ability to analyze the theoretical foundations of the methodology, demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the regularities, principles and methods of professional education. Ability to analyze, organize and conduct scientific and pedagogical research related to the study, prediction and modeling of the professional training process. Ability to analyze, solve and develop complex methodological problems and practical tasks during professional activities in the field of professional education related to professional application of theories and methods of teaching and upbringing, selection of teaching and training tools and development of new educational and teaching methods taking into account the requirements of modern education and the labor market. Ability to put into practice the theoretical foundations of the professional education methodology, regularities, principles and teaching methods, educational technologies in the professional school teaching process. Ability to adapt to new situations and make appropriate decisions by implementing professional mobility. Ability to take into account the psychological and pedagogical features of an adult student in the process of the new educational content designing, the use of educational technologies and specific teaching methods, forms of educational activities on andragogical grounds. Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to develop the own methods of organizing and conducting training sessions of various organizational forms of education, the use of educational technologies in the professional school. Ability to organize and conduct management of a professional educational institution on the basis of knowledge about the principles of educational institution management, structure of the management cycle, management functions. Ability to develop creativity, using the methods of teaching creativity, based on knowledge of the psychological characteristics of student youth. The ability to organize educational work on the basis of a personally oriented approach, to form the content of education, relying on the variability, flexibility of forms and methods of education, to diagnose and develop the creative abilities of the individual. The ability to plan and carry out scientific and pedagogical research, to select and analyze the factual material of such research, to evaluate and summarize the results of own research, to plan and organize a pedagogical experiment. Ability to design new educational content, educational technologies and specific teaching methods, including on the basis of the andragogical paradigm.
Ability to convey professional knowledge, ability to analyze and define the goals of the training lesson based on theoretical approaches in the methodology of professional education. Ability to provide a favorable psychological climate among the teaching staff. Ability to model educational process on the basis of technological approach. Ability to substantiate the practical significance of the experimental study results and use them in practical activities. Ability to use correctly the theoretical and empirical research methods. Ability to demonstrate a modern knowledge base on the problems of the professional education theory and to create own educational information base. The ability of specialists practical training in professional-technical and higher education in the conditions of the andragogical paradigm, purposeful self-improvement as a teacher of professional-technical educational institution and higher educational institution, as an andragog. Ability to use technologies of educational interaction with an adult student organization; selection of content, methods and forms of work with adult learners in different educational models; ensuring control and accounting of general and professional knowledge and skills of students in the context of the andragogical paradigm. Ability to form professional mobility of the future specialist. Ability to organize and control students' educational achievements. Ability to design the content of study, to develop and use didactic means of methodical support of the training lesson.
Academic mobility: On the basis of the bilateral agreements between the university and the universities of Ukraine; bilateral agreements between the university and institutions of higher education of the countries-partners.
Work placement(s): The internship is usually done at the 3-4 years of study and is conducted on the basis of the Agreements on international cooperation of the Department of Pedagogy and Innovative Education and internship programs placed on the Opportunities Portal of Lviv Polytechnic.
