Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of the discipline is to get acquainted with the causes and mechanisms of earthquakes and the principles of zoning the earth's surface as a whole and the territory of Ukraine according to seismic activity; mastering the essence of the work of building materials, structural elements and their connections of hydraulic buildings under the action of dynamic loads such as seismic; understanding of seismic load determination methods; formation of practical skills regarding the calculation of building structures for seismic loads; acquisition of creative skills in the design of monolithic and prefabricated reinforced concrete, large-panel and brick buildings in seismic areas; familiarization with methods of earthquake prediction and seismic protection of hydrotechnical structures.

Ability to develop and manage construction projects, ensuring safety and quality of work. professionals FK06. The ability to develop volume-planning solutions for buildings and their use for further design. FK07. The ability to evaluate and take into account the climatic, engineering-geological and ecological features of the construction area when designing and erecting construction objects. FC16. Understanding the reliability requirements and means of ensuring the reliability of building structures, buildings, structures and engineering networks. Professional competences of the specialty of professional direction (KSP) KSP101. Ability to design buildings and structures for industrial and civil purposes using prefabricated and monolithic reinforced concrete, metal, stone and wooden structures, including using modern software complexes.
Learning outcomes: Based on the results of studying the academic discipline, the student must demonstrate the following learning outcomes: - to know the causes and mechanism of earthquakes; - to know seismic scales and methods of earthquake assessment; - to know methods of predicting earthquakes; - to know devices for measuring the power of earthquakes. PR07. Use and develop technical documentation, including using modern information technologies. PR14. To comply with the modern requirements of regulatory documentation in the field of construction.

Summary of the subject: Causes and characteristics of earthquakes. Modern ideas about the structure of the earth. The theory of the occurrence of earthquakes. Mechanism and classification of earthquakes. Methods of assessing earthquakes (magnitude, intensity, seismic scales). Engineering seismology. Seismic waves. Influence of soil conditions on the intensity of seismic actions, micro-zoning. Devices for measuring the power of earthquakes. Determination of the frequency of natural oscillations of systems with a small number of degrees of freedom. Modeling of structures and buildings during engineering calculations for seismic actions. Calculation of hydraulic buildings and structures under seismic loads. Consideration of structural solutions of hydraulic buildings and structures when calculating seismic actions. Determination of the dynamism coefficient. Determination of the coefficient of influence of the shape of the deformation of the structure. Design of hydraulic buildings, structures and nodes under the action of seismic load. Buildings with a reinforced concrete frame in seismic areas. Determination of periods and forms of self-oscillations of frame buildings. Buildings with brick (stone) walls in seismic areas (nature of destruction, design requirements, calculation) Wooden buildings in seismic areas (features of construction, nature of destruction, design requirements).

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
