Learning outcomes: The study of the discipline involves the formation and development of graduate students' competencies: general: • ZK3. Interpersonal skills and teamwork. Promotional and presentation skills. Initiation and implementation of scientific research, the result of which is the acquisition of new knowledge. Ability to form ideas, theories, hypotheses and concepts in historical and archaeological research. Ability to present the information obtained during the research to the target and general audience; critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new ideas. The learning outcomes of this discipline detail the following program learning outcomes: - knowledge and skills: ЗН5. Ability to demonstrate methods of searching and processing various types of historical sources, professional historical and archaeological literature. COM1. Ability to communicate effectively at the professional and social levels; COM2. Ability to present and discuss the results obtained and transfer the acquired knowledge / As a result of studying the discipline, the student must be able demonstrate the following learning outcomes: • deepening and practical use of theoretical knowledge in professional disciplines; • deep knowledge of the historical content of medieval and early modern history of Ukraine; • acquaintance with modern scientific and methodical approaches to the study of medieval and early modern history of Ukraine; • mastering the skills and methods of critical analysis of information, constructive social interaction on the basis of stable value orientations; • acquisition of skills of modeling, design, forecasting of historical processes; • mastering modern forms, teaching methods.

Summary of the subject: In the context of modern integration processes in Ukrainian society, the study of the discipline "Problematic Aspects of Medieval and Early Modern History" provides graduate students with the acquisition of civic and sociocultural competence as an integrative quality of a person's worldview self-determination, ensuring their professional and civic self-realization in modern society. Controversial issues of the medieval and early modern history of Ukraine are an important component of the course, which provides an opportunity for future specialists to familiarize themselves with the achievements of domestic and foreign historiography, to develop their own opinion about the controversial moments of our history. Trained specialists are able to get a permanent feeling of belonging to the national community, learn to make independent decisions.
Опис: Topic 1. Territory composition and identity of the population of Ukrainian lands in the Medieval and Early Modern Ages Topic 2. Formation of early (pre-modern) Ukrainian identity (IX-XVII centuries). Topic 3. The genesis of Ukrainian state formation in the days of Kievan Rus Topic 4. Problematic aspects of the history of the Galicia-Volyn principality of the XIII - middle of the XIV century. Topic 5. Aspects of cultural development of Ukrainian lands in the X-XIV centuries. Topic 6. Ukrainian lands in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Poland: a general description of the era. Historical models. Topic 7. Social anthropology of Ukrainian society 14- Wednesday. 17th century: structure and features of states, state mentality. Topic 8. Origin and initial history of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. Topic 9. Problematic aspects of the existence of the Cossack state. Topic 10. The Civil War of the second half of the 17th century. Topic 11. Mazepa era. Topic 12 Ukrainian culture of the Baroque period (second half of the XVII-XVIII centuries) Topic 15. The symbolic space of the city and its culture Topic 16. The elite in the Ukrainian lands in the X-XVII centuries.
Assessment methods and criteria: 40 points (polls. presentations, oral and written answers); final control - 60 points (exam)
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: 100-point rating by the system: current control – 40 points (40 for class answers, 5 for presentation); final control – 60 points (exam). Work in classes: Report - a maximum of 3 points. Criteria: - quality of knowledge – its completeness, depth, flexibility, systematicity, strength; - speech culture (literacy, logic and sequence of presentation); - the level of meaningfulness of knowledge - the ability to formulate independent evaluation judgments and theoretical conclusions. Reviewing, opposing in class - a maximum of 2 points (ability to oppose and review; ability to argue one's own judgments and conclusions during a scientific discussion). Presentation of the project on updating little-known objects of cultural heritage - 5 points. Criteria: – ability to analyze, compare, classify and summarize material; - general design of the visual series; - a creative approach to presenting information; - logicality and sequence of presentation of the material; - attracting a sufficient number of sources of information.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
