Завдання: 1. To develop persuasive speech skills 2. To teach rational speech behavior in various communication situations. 3. Studying the most effective ways to win people's favor with words.
Learning outcomes: understanding of the main stages of the world rhetoric development; • knowledge of the Ukrainian rhetorical studies; • determining of the modern academic eloquence status; • ability to realize the basic aspects of the psychology and culture of language communication; • ability to distinguish features of different forms of academic communication; • knowledge of the types and genres of public speaking; • ability to develop different types of speeches according to their construction peculiarities; • ability to adhere to the speech structure and composition; • ability to use different forms of communication among the people in the team; • understanding the main stages of speech preparation; • ability to use the means for activating the audience attention. • ability to develop theoretical principles of speech preparation; • ability to distinguish different forms of academic communication features; • ability to select material for speech preparation; • ability to organize and conduct discussions; • ability to prepare informative and persuasive speeches; • ability to draw up a detailed plan of presentation, abstracts of the report; • ability to pick up arguments and means to stimulate the attention of the listeners; • ability to speak to an audience in accordance with the laws of rhetoric.

Summary of the subject: Basic stages in the development of rhetoric, historical traditions of rhetoric, the status of modern rhetoric, the main aspects of the psychology and culture of language communication, theoretical basis in the preparation of speeches and other public appearances, features of various forms of public or professional business communication.
Опис: Rhetoric as a science. Subject and main tasks of the course. Oratory in the life of a modern person. History of world rhetoric. Formation of oratorical art in Ukraine. Speech preparation. Speech composition. Kinds, types and genres of oratorical art. Types of oratorical speeches. Psychological aspects of oratory. Discussion as one type of dispute. Means of activating the listeners' attention. Non-verbal means of speech. The culture of public speaking. Speech etiquette. Rhetorical figures and tropes.
Assessment methods and criteria: Test: participation – 100 points (oral interviews).
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Tasks in test form - 20 points; individual work - 60 points; independent work - 20 points.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions, which, however, contain certain insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49–26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25–00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
