Мета вивчення дисципліни: To form a graduate student's understanding of the peculiarities of using modern instrumental methods of analyzing the chemical composition of inorganic substances and understanding the influence of the operating conditions of analytical devices on the received analytical signal
Завдання: General competencies: 1. In-depth knowledge of the theoretical foundations and applied principles of chemistry, understanding modern trends in chemical science development. 2. The ability to initiate and conduct original scientific research, identify relevant scientific problems, search for and critically analyze information, produce innovative constructive ideas, and apply non-standard approaches to solving complex and atypical tasks. Professional competencies: 1. In-depth understanding of the features of the application of certain modern instrumental methods of analyzing the chemical composition of inorganic substances. 2. Understanding the patterns connecting the structure of the compound and its amount with certain parameters of the analytical signal
Learning outcomes: - knowledge of the phenomena underlying certain instrumental methods of analyzing the chemical composition of inorganic substances; - knowledge of the laws that relate the structure of a compound and its number to certain parameters of the analytical signal; - the ability to apply knowledge of the theory and practice of modern instrumental analysis methods to solving real-world problems of determining the chemical composition of inorganic substances, as well as choosing optimal conditions for sample preparation and obtaining analytical signals.

Summary of the subject: Possibilities of modern instrumental analysis methods for investigating the chemical composition of inorganic substances. Presentation of the results of the chemical composition analysis. Uncertainty of measurement. Sample preparation is the first stage of the analytical process. X-ray fluorescence analysis. X-ray-structural analysis. Thermogravimetry. Atomic emission spectral analysis. Atomic absorption spectral analysis. Molecular absorption spectroscopy in the infrared region for the study of inorganic substances. Molecular absorption spectroscopy in visible and ultraviolet regions for studying inorganic substances. Electron paramagnetic resonance. Electrochemical methods of analysis and their classification according to IUPAC. Conductometric methods of analysis. Potentiometric methods of analysis. Voltamperometric methods of analysis. Mass spectrometry of inorganic substances. Ion exchange chromatography separates and calculates cations and anions in aqueous solutions.

Assessment methods and criteria: Examination (written part 60% and oral component 40%).

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: - 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the primary and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; - 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations and reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions during solving practical tasks; - 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) are awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, a violation of the sequence of presentation, or weak application of theoretical provisions while solving practical problems; - 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) are awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; - 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) are awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, and ignorance of the main fundamental provisions
