Learning outcomes: 1. Knowledge of technologies of restoration of works of art and stages of complex research, content and procedure for their use and methods of analysis of works of art. 2. Knowledge and understanding of techniques, methods of measuring monuments, in accordance with the requirements of current standards and specifications. 3. Knowledge of the basic techniques of architectural and artistic modeling of works of art, taking into account their purpose and conditions of use, the requirements of monuments of protection legislation. 4. Be able to collect and process source information on the basis of chemical-technological, field surveys of works of art, measurements, soundings, pits, archival and iconographic materials. 5. Perform chemical-technological research and apply research skills in restoration. 6. Ability to work on the object as part of a group / 7. Ability to realize the need for lifelong learning in order to deepen the acquired and acquire new professional knowledge. 8. Ability to be responsible in the work performed, to make decisions independently, to achieve the goal in compliance with the requirements of professional ethics
Required prior and related subjects: Special biology. Petrography and applied materials science of natural stone. Physical and colloid chemistry.
Summary of the subject: Basic concepts of chemistry. Classification of substances. Basic laws of chemistry. The composition of materials and methods of its presentation. Types of chemical bonds. The main classes of inorganic compounds. Chemical reagents. Solutions, characteristics of solutions and ways of expressing their composition. Electrolytic dissociation. Hydrolysis of salts. Redox reactions. Classification of operating environments. Characteristics of gaseous, liquid, solid aggressive media. Durability problems and protection of stone materials from corrosion. Classification of facing stone by durability. Structural and physico-chemical means of protection of natural stone materials from corrosion. Choice of chemical-technological processes and materials for restoration works. Polymers in restoration: synthetic and natural.
Assessment methods and criteria: written reports on laboratory work, oral examination, control work (40%); final control (test), written-oral form (60%)
