The formation of archeology as a science is associated with the realization that material antiquities are evidence of history, ie historical sources similar in function to writing, as well as a sense of the length of history, which is realized in certain sequences. Archeology has gone through a long period of development from the description and collection of antiquities through a series of large-scale but amateur excavations, development of research methods, archaeological periodization to systematic research, the quality of which is constantly improving. The history of archeological discoveries is quite colorful both in the world and in Ukraine. Now archeology is becoming more specialized. According to the objects of research, the branch of architectural archeology is distinguished from it. The method of conducting architectural and archaeological research was developed as a result of creative understanding of the actual archaeological and historical-architectural methods of studying architectural monuments. The full cycle of archaeological research consists of a number of important stages - from preparatory work - study of written sources, collection, processing and interpretation of geodesy, geology and geophysics, surface (non-invasive) archaeological exploration, stationary field work - to in-house work (washing, gluing, encryption No less important is the preservation, inventory and museification of the most authentic substances of architectural and archaeological monuments. Therefore, the second part of the lecture course provides examples of research on architectural and archaeological monuments, such as: the Tithe Church of the tenth century in Kiev, the Assumption Cathedral of the twelfth century and other churches of ancient Halych, the Church of the Thirteenth century in Kholm, late medieval and early modern monuments of sacred, residential and about industrial architecture of Lviv, Volodymyr, Lavrov, Zhovkva, Drohobych and other historical cities of Ukraine. The study of the discipline is a consistent teaching of the lecture course. Current control occurs twice by students performing test tasks. As an independent work, students perform an abstract-presentation and copy part of the archaeological drawing.
Assessment methods and criteria: Attendance at lectures - 30 points Test task 1 - 10 points Test task 2 - 10 points Abstract-presentation - 10 points Drawings - 10 points Exam - 30 points Together for the discipline - 100 points
