Learning outcomes: • to know the role of biosynthesis in organic synthesis; • to know the basic principles and directions used in biosynthesis; • to know the fundamentals biocatalysts, which must be applied in organic synthesis; • be able to explore the physical and chemical characteristics of biocatalysts to determine then the technology properties • be able to compare and choose the most effective processes for a particular synthesis.

Summary of the subject: Aspects of the biosynthesis of organic products. The main types of microorganisms used for biosynthesis. The cultivation of microorganisms. The main microbiological production. The technology of enzymes. Biosynthesis of organic acids. The preparation of amino acids and vitamins. Application biosynthesis to produce food. The use of microorganisms to clean the environment. Biosynthesis in agriculture and other aspects of its application in industries.
Assessment methods and criteria: • abstract (30%) • final control (70 %, control measure, exam): written-oral form (70%)
