Learning outcomes: • to know the methods and techniques of modern biotechnology, • to know alternative pharmaceutical production methods, • to know the technological methods of obtaining drugs from cell cultures and plant tissues; the current state and prospects of medical pharmacy development, • be able to choose and put into a practice the most advanced, safe and economical methods of biologically active compound producing.

Summary of the subject: Subject and objectives of the discipline. General terms and concepts of this course. Application of the method of isolated cells and tissues cultures to producing biologically active substances. Characteristics of isolated tissues and plant cells cultivation. Methods of isolated tissues and cells cultivation. A solid-phase method of cultivation. Callus culture. Submerged cultivation of plant cells in culture fluid. The cultivation of individual cells. Isolated protoplasts, their obtaining and cultivation. Micropropagationclonal reproduction (plant organ culture).
Assessment methods and criteria: written reports from laboratory work, oral questioning, individual work - 40 points; control test, written form – 60 points.
