Summary of the subject: "Fundamentals of system administration" is a training course that belongs to the variable component of professionally oriented disciplines of training a specialist in software development and testing. A computer is the main working tool of both a programmer and any specialist in the IT industry. In order for the computer to function as expected, the operating system should be correctly installed and configured. The purpose of this discipline is to provide, first of all, practical knowledge and skills in configuring and optimizing the operation of the most popular operating systems and ensuring information security when working on a computer.

File systems and drives.
User and group management.
Monitoring and optimization tools. Local system audit.
Print Services in Windows OS.
Information backup and system recovery. Group policies. Security analysis and configuration. Windows remote administration tools. Basics of Linux OS administration.
Assessment methods and criteria: 1. Control measures at practical classes.
2. Oral survey at practical classes.
3. Tests.
4. Protection of laboratory works.
5. Examination control (written component, oral component).
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • current control includes the defense of 6 laboratory works with written reports, interviews (5%*6=30 %) and test (20%);
Deadlines are set for the protection of laboratory points. Outside of deadlines, the maximum score is reduced by 10% every 2 weeks;
• final control - exam: written form and interviews (40+10=50%).
