Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the discipline “Verification of Measuring Means” the students: • should know International Metrological Organizations, their functions and tasks; the structure of metrology system of Ukraine and its tasks of ensuring the uniformity of measurements in the field of verification (metrological checks) of measuring means; types of verification of measuring means; methodology of verification of measuring means; modern methods of the verification of measuring means and operating procedures of their realization; main methods of measurements and operating procedures of their realization; main technical regulations, standards and other regulated documents in the sphere of the measuring means verification; current state and prospects of the precision measuring means development to create new methods and techniques of their verification and calibration; • must be able to choose a method of verification of the given measuring instrument and necessary reference measuring means for the verification of measuring instrument; to match the established requirements of measuring instrument and its suitability for use; to make the evaluation of accuracy of verification results of measuring instrument to establish their authenticity.

Summary of the subject: The structure of metrology system of Ukraine. Means of the information-measurement technique. Methods of measurement. Methods of verification and calibration of measuring instruments. Evaluation accuracy of the results of verification and calibration of measuring instruments. Method of direct comparison of measuring instrument, which is checked, with the reference. Method of comparison of measuring instrument, which is checked, with the reference by using comparator. Method of measurement by checked measuring instrument of the quantity of reference measure. Method of measurement by reference measuring instrument of the quantity of checked measure. Verification and calibration of measuring transducers by measuring of their parameters by the reference measuring instrument. Method of indirect measurement of quantity which is corresponding to show of the measuring instrument which is checked. Method of autonomous verification and calibration of measuring instruments (without of direct using of standard means). Method of unit verification and calibration of measuring instruments. Presentation of the results of verification and calibration of measuring instruments.
Assessment methods and criteria: There are such methods of diagnosis and assessment in the process of teaching discipline “Verification of Measuring Means”: • current control of students knowledge – 30 %: a) during lectures; b) during laboratory classes; c) during tests; d) during checking works; • during semester exam – 70% (control task - 60%; oral component - 10%).
