Завдання: The study of an academic discipline involves the formation of the necessary competencies in students:
- General competences:

CК 1. Ability to operate the basic categorical and conceptual apparatus of sociology;
CK 2. Ability to learn and use basic classical and modern sociological theories
Learning outcomes: Use the conceptual apparatus of sociology in educational, research and other areas of professional activity.
Understand the history of sociology, its modern concepts and theories, the main problems.
Apply the provisions of sociological theories and concepts to the study of social change in Ukraine and the world.
Explain the patterns and features of development and functioning of social phenomena in the context of professional tasks.
Communicate fluently in state and foreign languages orally and in writing on professional matters.
Be able to use information and communication technologies in the process of searching, collecting and analyzing sociological information.
Substantiate their own position, make and argue independent conclusions based on research and analysis of professional literature.
Be able to develop a program of sociological research.
Have the skills to collect social information using quantitative and qualitative methods.
Present the results of their own research to professionals and non-specialists.

Critical understanding of theories, principles, methods and concepts in the field of professional activity and / or training.

Summary of the subject: Much attention is paid in the course to the basic methods of demographic analysis, the issues of forecasting the number and structure of the population, as well as the processes of birth, death, marriage and divorce. The course also examines issues of the current demographic situation in Ukraine and the world as a whole, and analyzes current problems of demographic policy. Taking into account the focus on sociology students, the teaching of the course focuses on sociological interpretations of population reproduction processes, as well as on the relationship between demography and sociology. In particular, great attention is paid to the possibilities of applying demographic analysis methods in sociological research.
The acquired demographic knowledge will enable specialists to professionally navigate such issues as patterns of population and family development as the main constituent element of society and the object of demography, mechanisms of interrelationship of social, economic and demographic development, interaction of the population and the environment, etc.
Опис: Theoretical foundations of demography. Sources of information on population and demographic processes. Population size and demographic structure: their dynamics. Quantitative analysis and measurement of demographic processes. Population reproduction as a unity of demographic processes. Natural and mechanical (spatial) movements of the population. Socio-demographic forecasting. Demographic policy in the era of depopulation. Sociology of territorial communities as a branch of sociological knowledge: a historical excursion into science. City as a socio-spatial phenomenon: urbanization and urban agglomerations. Formation of urban and rural society: reproduction and migration. Socio-economic subcomplex of the city: living conditions and living standards, landscaping and industry. Cities as scientific and educational centers: socio-cultural potential of the urban environment. Social relations, social conflicts and political processes in cities and villages. Management of urban and rural society development and social design in cities.
Assessment methods and criteria: • oral interviews, participation in discussions and interactive exercises, presentation of the study project (40%)
• final control test, written form (60%)

– quality of knowledge – its completeness, depth, flexibility, systematicity, strength;
- correct use of conceptual and terminological apparatus;
- speech culture (literacy, logic and sequence of presentation);
- the level of meaningfulness of knowledge - the ability to formulate independent evaluation judgments and theoretical conclusions.

- approaches to solving the situation proposed in the exercise or case study;
- the quality of solving the situation proposed in the exercise or case study;
- disclosure of cause-and-effect relationships between phenomena and processes during the solution of the situation proposed in the exercise or case.

– correctness, logic, reasonableness, integrity of knowledge;
- the ability to argue one's own judgments and conclusions during a scientific discussion.
