Learning outcomes: 1) to know the principles, mechanisms and processes of foreign policy; features of interaction of separate countries and regions at global, regional and local levels; genesis of European integration; features of the EU institutional structure; principles of the EU common energy policy; EU energy strategies until 2020-2030-2050 («green energy of the future»); EU energy packages; EU roadmap to 2050; priorities of the JV Energy Security platform; Ukraine's energy strategy until 2035 and the main directions of energy policy in the context of European integration; 2) to understand the content of the three pillars of the European Union; the EU's common energy policy; problems and challenges of the formation of the Energy Union at the EU level; difficulties of Ukraine's integration into the Energy Union; 3) to be able to practically apply progressive EU practices to ensure Ukraine's energy sustainability; tools and opportunities offered by the European Union for the implementation of Ukraine's energy policy, in particular in the framework of the EU's flagship project "EU4Energy" and INOGATE; apply the acquired knowledge in their future professional activity during the implementation of European energy standards enshrined in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU; 4) to master the skills of energy saving and environmental literacy; creative communication; critical and creative thinking; effective learning; making informed, responsible decisions; analysis and evaluation of information; formation of questions on the basis of information; use of effective strategies for information retrieval; generalization of information in written, graphic and oral forms; teamwork to achieve the goal; providing leadership; problem solving; formation of effective and rational argumentation; project management.

Summary of the subject: The proposed course is taught within the project EUSTS: "European studies for technical specialties at Lviv Polytechnic National University" within the EU Erasmus + Jean Monnet Chair Program. The aim of the interactive interdisciplinary course is to develop comprehensive knowledge of the European Union and its common energy policy, as well as to develop students' practical skills in applying positive EU cases in implementing European energy standards in Ukraine and strengthening European security. Thematic plan of the course: History of the EU. The Euratom Treaty and its significance for the United Europe. A common union and three pillars of the EU. The EU's common energy policy. Cooperation of the Eastern Partnership countries in the field of energy. Resource potential of EU4Energy and INOGATE. EU energy diplomacy. EU energy trends: experience for Ukraine. Ukraine's energy strategy until 2035. Problems of Ukraine's integration into the Energy Union. Peculiarities of Ukraine's implementation of the Energy Association Agreement with the EU.
Assessment methods and criteria: lectures, interactive seminars (brainstorming, discussion, case studies, teamwork, debate, simulation games, mediation, video, audio and photo tools), student project (project management), participation in events (trainings, media library, Speaking Club, regional webinar, youth forum, excursions, video contest, workshops, simulation games, conference hackathons, winter school, guest speakers, etc.). Current control (100%): oral examination (40), student project (40), final testing (20 points).
