Be able to use information and communication technologies in the process of searching, collecting and analyzing sociological information.

Summary of the subject: The course envisages expanding students' systemic ideas, enriching the sociological categorical apparatus, arming them with new methodological and methodical approaches to the analysis of social processes taking place in modern Ukrainian society.
Опис: Module 1. Logic of educational and scientific research. Scientific knowledge as a form of reflection of reality. Types of educational and scientific research and their features. Academic honesty and plagiarism. The essence and organization of scientific research. Methodological part of educational and scientific research. The main sociological paradigms and their features. The logic of the presentation of the material in educational and scientific research (on the example of a term paper). Bibliographic apparatus and graphic design of the work. Module 2. Methods of sociological research. Quantitative and qualitative paradigms in sociology. Quantitative methods of collecting sociological information. Sociological research: concepts, stages, types. Organization of data collection. Scientific final research report. Document analysis method. Methods of observation and experiment in sociological research. Survey method in sociological research. Interview as a method of collecting sociological data. Concept of measurement. General principles of measurement in sociology. Concept of measurement. General principles of measurement in sociology. Program of sociological research.
Assessment methods and criteria: • oral interviews, participation in discussions and interactive exercises, presentation of the study project (60%)
• final control test, written form (60%)
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: report (quality of knowledge – its completeness, depth, flexibility, systematicity, strength; correct use of conceptual and terminological apparatus; speech culture (literacy, logic and consistency of presentation); level of meaningfulness of knowledge – the ability to formulate independent evaluation judgments and theoretical conclusions), presentation ( compliance with the topic of the practical lesson; aesthetic design of the presentation; clear, concise report; ability to answer clarifying questions; references to sources).

Summary of the subject: The course is designed for students who are familiar with the basic concepts of general sociology and the classification of research strategies into quantitative and qualitative methods. Course work is individual in nature. In the process of work, students improve and develop the following skills and abilities: independently formulate a research problem and justify its relevance at the current stage of the development of sociology; determine the goal, main tasks, subject, object of research; select the necessary scientific literature, systematize and process it; to logically and reasonedly express one's own opinions, draw conclusions, make suggestions; to complete the work correctly; publicly defend prepared work (make scientific reports, answer questions, defend one's point of view, etc.). In the process of completing the tasks, the student must write and present an educational and scientific work, which is allowed to be defended by the decision of the scientific supervisor, with his review.
Опис: Theoretical aspects of the course work: the main theoretical and methodological areas in modern sociology; the concept of "paradigm" and its use in sociology. Organizational aspects of the course work: scientific guidance, stages of work. Course work as a scientific research: requirements for work, substantiation of the content of scientific research, theoretical and methodological and empirical bases of scientific work. Preparation of work for defense: requirements for design, constituent elements of work, general rules for citations and references to used scientific sources, preparation of students for defense and defense procedure. In the process of performing the tasks of the module, the student must write and submit an educational and scientific work, which is allowed to be defended by the decision of the supervisor, with his review.
Assessment methods and criteria: writing a term paper and its defense (100%).
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Course work is evaluated on a 100-point scale. The preliminary number of points (from 0 to 60) for the completed work is substantiated and presented by the supervisor in the review and is the basis for admitting the coursework to defense or returning it for revision or not admitting it to defense. The work is allowed to be defended if there is a positive assessment of the supervisor (35 or more points). The work, evaluated at 34 points or less, is returned to the student to take into account the comments of the supervisor, correct errors and properly design.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
