Завдання: As a result of studying the discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
1. Conceptual scientific and practical knowledge of rhetoric, namely:
• subject and tasks of the rhetoric course; the status of modern rhetoric;
• the main stages of development of world rhetoric;
• features of Ukrainian rhetorical teachings;
• historical traditions of otator art;
• basic aspects of psychology and culture of language communication;
• types and genres of public speaking;
• types of speeches and features of their construction;
• structure of speech and its composition;
• forms of communication between people in the team;
• main stages of speech preparation;
• means of activating the attention of listeners.
2. In-depth cognitive and practical public speaking skills in the context of professional activities, skills in their application in professional activities, such as:
• develop theoretical principles of speech preparation;
• distinguish between features of different forms of business communication;
• select material for the preparation of the speech;
• organize a meeting, discussion;
• prepare different types of speeches;
• make a detailed plan of speech, abstracts;
• choose arguments and means of activating the attention of listeners;
• speak to the audience, following the laws of rhetoric;
• use public speaking skills in professional activities;
to improve public speaking skills in the context of professional activity.
Learning outcomes: • Become familiar with the achievements of world rhetoric;
• Know the main stages of the formation and development of rhetoric in Ukraine;
• Learn the basic aspects of cultural psychology and speech communication;
• Be able to analyze the features of different forms of communication between people in a team;
• Know the differences between different types of speeches;
• Understand the theoretical foundations of public speaking training;
• Possess skills in meetings, discussions, and speeches;
Required prior and related subjects: Ukrainian language (for professional purposes)
Summary of the subject: Basic stages in the development of rhetoric, historical traditions of rhetoric, the status of modern rhetoric, the main aspects of the psychology and culture of language communication, theoretical basis in the preparation of speeches and other public appearances, features of various forms of public or professional business communication.
Опис: 1. Introduction. Rhetoric as a science. The subject and main objectives of the course of rhetoric. The connection of rhetoric with other sciences. Oratory in the life of modern man.
2. History of world rhetoric. Ancient rhetoric. Formation of oratory in Ukraine. Traditions of national rhetoric.
3. Speech as a type of speech activity. Speech composition.
4. Preparation of the speech (stages of preparation, theme and purpose, selection of material, writing the text of the speech, argumentation in the speech, preparation for the speech).
5. Modern classification of genera and genres of oratory. Features of socio-political, academic, socio-domestic and other genera and genres of eloquence.
6. Types of speeches. Features of informational, persuasive, agitational, appealing speeches.
7. Rhetorical analysis of texts of different types and genres of oratory.
8. Forms of communication between people in the team. Call. Conference. Discussion.
9. Forms of communication between people in the team. Specifics of business conversation. Interview, disciplinary, problematic, organizational, creative conversation, conversation with visitors.
10. Means of activating the attention of listeners.
11. Non-verbal means of oral speech. Features of nonverbal communication. Functions of nonverbal means and their classification.
12. Psychological aspects of public speaking.
13. The art of speech and the culture of oratory. The main communicative features of speech culture.
14. Modern speech etiquette.
15. Rhetorical figures and paths as a means of expression of language
Assessment methods and criteria: Oral control, which involves the analysis of the ability to think logically, argue, express their thoughts competently, figuratively, emotionally, as well as to defend their own opinion. It allows to identify the scope and soundness of students' knowledge, gaps and inaccuracies in knowledge and provides an opportunity to correct them immediately.
Written control, which involves finding out the degree of mastery of students' knowledge, skills and abilities, determining their quality - correctness, accuracy, awareness, ability to apply knowledge in practice.
Test control, which allows to identify the level of formation of knowledge and skills in the discipline with the use of tests of open and closed form.
Program control, implemented through standard requirements for students, provided by the use of the same number and complexity of control tasks, questions. Thus the analysis of answers, derivation and fixing of estimations is carried out by means of individual automated means.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions, which, however, contain certain insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49–26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25–00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
