Summary of the subject: As a result of studying the academic discipline "Sociology of politics and electoral behavior", the student must understand the patterns of development of the political sphere from the point of view of sociological analysis, the structure and dynamics of electoral attitudes and voter behavior, the factors that determine them, and the technologies of influence on electoral behavior; be able to use knowledge and skills to research public opinion on politics and electoral behavior.
Опис: Sociological tools in the study of political processes. Social and political stratification of society. Public opinion in politics: role, functions. Public opinion research in the field of political relations. Social parameters and political structure of society. Social engineering in politics. Sociological traditions in the study of electoral behavior. The theory of splits by S. Lipset and S. Rockan. Functions and methods of electoral sociology. Electoral behavior and participation. Theoretical models for studying electoral behavior: the microsociological approach of the Columbia School, the macrosociological model of Lipset and Roccan, the socio-psychological model of the Michigan School, the theory of rational choice. Basic models of electoral behavior. Social portrait of the electorate: essence, functions, design requirements. Socio-political divisions as a determinant of electoral choice. Rating electoral research. Exit floor: practices. Exit floor: organization and methods. Exit sex validity criteria.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Work in practical classes: oral examination, use of interactive forms of learning, individual control work (40%)
• final control (control measure, exam): written form (60%)
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Oral report, 4 points:
– correctness, logic, reasonableness, integrity of knowledge;
– quality of knowledge – its completeness, depth, flexibility, systematicity, strength;
Reviewing, opposition, discussion, argumentation - 3 points:
- correct use of conceptual and terminological apparatus;
- speech culture (literacy, logic and sequence of presentation);
- the level of meaningfulness of knowledge - the ability to formulate independent evaluation judgments and theoretical conclusions.

- the ability to argue one's own judgments and conclusions during a scientific discussion.

- a scientifically based statement that reveals the essence of phenomena, processes, patterns.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems.
87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems.
49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
