Завдання: The study of an academic discipline involves the formation and development of students' competencies:

the ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of international relations, social communication and regional studies, foreign policy activities of states, international interactions between states, international organizations and non-state actors, characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions and involves the application of theories of social sciences and special scientific methods of researching problems of international relations.

FC11. The ability to analyze the nature and evolution of international organizations, their place in the system of international relations, the main forms and perspectives of Ukraine's cooperation with them.
FC13. Ability to analyze the activities of international non-state actors and transnational relations.
FC15. Ability to analyze features, development trends, forms, methods and tools of state regulation of regional and cross-border cooperation.
Learning outcomes: PH01. To know and understand the nature of international relations and regional development, the evolution, the state of theoretical studies of international relations and world politics, as well as the nature and sources of the policies of states in the international arena and the activities of other participants in international relations.
PH02. To know and understand the nature and dynamics of international security, to understand the peculiarities of its provision at the global, regional and national level, to know the nature and approaches to solving international and internationalized conflicts.
PH03. To know the nature of international cooperation, the nature of interaction between international actors, the ratio of state and non-state actors in world politics.
PH04. To know the principles, mechanisms and processes of ensuring the foreign policy of states, the interaction between foreign and domestic policies, the definition and implementation of the national interests of states on the international arena, the process of forming and implementing foreign policy decisions.
PH06. To know the nature and character of interactions of individual countries and regions at the global, regional and local levels.
PH08. Collect, process and analyze large volumes of information about the state of international relations, foreign policy of Ukraine and other states, regional systems, international communications.
PH09. Research the problems of international relations, regional development, foreign policy, international communications, using modern political, economic and legal theories and concepts, scientific methods and interdisciplinary approaches, present research results, provide relevant recommendations.
PH11. Carry out an applied analysis of international relations, foreign policy of Ukraine and other states, international processes and the international situation in accordance with the set goals, prepare informative and analytical documents.
PH19. To know the peculiarities, development trends, forms, methods and tools of state regulation of regional and cross-border cooperation, international cooperation of regions.
RNVB 1.1 Know and understand the nature, dynamics of international processes in specific spheres of international relations, trends in their development.
RNVB 1.2 Carry out a description and analysis of processes, specific situations in the field of international relations and foreign policy through the prism of historical and geopolitical approaches.
RNVB 1.4 Research and analyze social, legal, cultural, economic factors affecting the adoption of political decisions at the domestic and international levels.
RNVB 1.5 Develop mechanisms for solving current problems and tasks in the field of international relations and foreign policy.
AiV 2. The ability to realize the need for lifelong learning in order to deepen the acquired and acquire new professional knowledge.
Required prior and related subjects: • Pre-requisites: History of Ukraine.
• Co-requisites: Political Science, Country Studies.
Summary of the subject: The discipline "Theory of International Relations" is aimed at the formation of students' holistic understanding of international relations through their assimilation of the basic conceptual and categorical apparatus of an international relations specialist; acquisition of skills in the application of forms of theoretical analysis of phenomena, events and facts of international relations; formation of independent thinking skills and analysis of features and patterns of development of world political processes and Ukraine's place in them.
Опис: The specialist in international relations: areas of activity and specifics of training. Conceptual and categorical apparatus of specialist in international relations. The structure and methodology of international relations researches. International relations as a social phenomenon: the main features. Types and levels of international relations. The international system: nature, structure and types. Peculiarities of transformation of international system. Subjects of international relations: nature and types. State and non-state actors in the international relations. Foreign policy: nature, principles of implementation. Correlation of domestic and foreign policy. Interest in the international relations. Interconnection of interests, motives and goals of international actors. International and national interest, their correlation. Means of international actors. Force as a means, an attribute of international actors. The essence, appearance and forms of diplomatic activities. Conflicts in international relations. Characteristics of international conflicts and ways of their settlement. Cooperation in international relations: essence and forms. Types of international cooperation and international integration. International order and formation of the modern global world order. Globalization. Global challenges of our time and their solutions.
Assessment methods and criteria: Oral (individual and face-to-face) and written (written answers to questions, solving tasks, etc.) surveys according to the plan of practical classes, observation of educational and cognitive activities, evaluation of activity, submitted proposals, original solutions, clarifications and definitions, writing and defending essays, presentations , discussion of problematic tasks, exam (three-level testing).
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • Current control (40% - oral examination, reports, discussions, writing essays, case-study research, preparation of presentations on a given topic).
• Final control (60% - examination - three-level testing).
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
