Learning outcomes: 1) to know the principles, mechanisms and processes of foreign policy of the state; features of interaction of separate countries and regions at global, regional and local levels; the genesis of European integration, the creation and functioning of the EU; the EU's common environmental policy; EU climate diplomacy; principles of EU environmental and climate policy; 2) to understand the content of the three pillars of the European Union; EU common and sectoral policies; the role of the EU in achieving the UNDP Sustainable Development Goals (2015-2030); GREEN DEAL - a new EU environmentally friendly growth strategy; problems in achieving environmental and climatic sustainability of Ukraine; 3) to be able to practically apply progressive EU practices to ensure climate and environmental sustainability of Ukraine; tools and opportunities offered by the European Union for the implementation of Ukraine's environmental and climate policy in the context of the European Green Deal and the draft new goals of the JV until 2025; apply the acquired knowledge in their future professional activity during the implementation of European environmental and climate standards enshrined in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU; 4) to master the skills of environmental literacy; creative communication; critical and creative thinking; effective learning; making informed, responsible decisions; analysis and evaluation of information; formation of questions on the basis of information; use of effective strategies for information retrieval; generalization of information in written, graphic and oral forms; teamwork to achieve the goal; providing leadership; problem solving; formation of effective and rational argumentation; project management

Summary of the subject: The proposed course is taught within the project EUSTS: "European studies for technical specialties at Lviv Polytechnic National University" within the EU Erasmus + Jean Monnet Chair Program. The purpose of the interactive interdisciplinary course is to form a comprehensive knowledge of the functioning of the European Union, its environmental and climate sustainability, as well as to develop practical skills in applying positive EU cases to ensure climate and environmental sustainability of Ukraine. Thematic plan of the course: History of the creation and institutionalization of the European Union. Three pillars of the EU. EU common policies, mainly on the environment. Cooperation of the Eastern Partnership member states in the field of environmental protection and the specifics of their cooperation with the EU. European Green Deal: implementation in Ukraine. Problems of Ukraine's implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU in the field of environmental protection and their adaptation (harmonization) to EU standards
Assessment methods and criteria: lectures, interactive seminars (brainstorming, discussion, case studies, teamwork, debate, simulation games, mediation, video, audio and photo tools), student project (project management), participation in events (trainings, media library, Speaking Club, regional webinar, youth forum, excursions, video contest, workshops, simulation games, conference hackathons, winter school, guest speakers, etc.). Current control (100%): oral examination (40), student project (40), final testing (20 points)
