Мета вивчення дисципліни: To form the linguistic and terminological competence of the future specialist, to learn to compose scientific and technical, educational, reference texts taking into account the peculiarities of the historical formation and the current state of Ukrainian terminology as a subsystem of the Ukrainian literary language.
Завдання: 1. Know: - regularities of the main stages of formation and development of branch terminological systems and terminology in Ukraine; - main aspects of Ukrainian term formation and use of terms; - features of variant and synonymous terminological units in branch terminological systems; - differences between historically formed directions of development of Ukrainian branch terminological systems 2. Be able to: - to find out the status of modern terminology in the system of sections of language science and branch disciplines; - identify lexical and semantic features of Ukrainian language terms; - to analyze the theoretical principles of compiling scientific texts of different stylistic and genre directions (educational and reference, actually scientific texts, lexicographical articles, oral presentations, etc.); - identify lexical and semantic features of modern Ukrainian terms; - select material for scientific, educational, terminological texts.
Learning outcomes: • Understand the main stages of development of industry and terminology in Ukraine; • The ability to identify lexical-semantic features of Ukrainian language terms; • Understand the basic aspects of Ukrainian terminology; • The ability to speak in front of an audience, following the rules of terminology and requirements of scientific style.

Summary of the subject: The formation of linguistic and terminological competence for future professions, the conclusion of scientific, technical, and educational reference texts allowing for the formation of historical and current Ukrainian terminology as a subsystem of Ukrainian literary language.
Опис: 1. Terminology as a science. The subject and main objectives of the course of terminology. 2. History of the formation of Ukrainian terminology. Activities of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. 3. "Golden Decade" of development of Ukrainian scientific and technical terminology. Development of Ukrainian terminology abroad. 4. Elaboration of terminological heritage in modern conditions. 5. Hypero-hyponymic relations, polysemy and homonymy in the terminology of journalism. 6. Synonymy, antonymy, paronymy in Ukrainian scientific and technical terminology. 7. Scientific and technical terms as a means of activating the attention of the reader of a journalistic text. 8. Morphological term formation. 9. Secondary nomination in term formation. 10. Analytical derivation. 11. Borrowing and translation of terms. 12. Types of terminological dictionaries. 13. Standardization of terminology. 14. Features of scientific style. 15. Genres of scientific style.
Assessment methods and criteria: Description of methods for assessing the level of achievement of learning outcomes Oral control, which involves the analysis of the ability to think logically, argue, express their thoughts competently, figuratively, emotionally, as well as to defend their own opinion. It allows to identify the scope and soundness of students' knowledge, gaps and inaccuracies in knowledge and provides an opportunity to correct them immediately. Written control, which involves finding out the degree of mastery of students' knowledge, skills and abilities, determining their quality - correctness, accuracy, awareness, ability to apply knowledge in practice. Test control, which allows to identify the level of formation of knowledge and skills in the discipline with the use of tests of open and closed form. Program control, implemented through standard requirements for students, provided by the use of the same number and complexity of control tasks, questions. Thus the analysis of answers, derivation and fixing of estimations is carried out by means of individual automated means.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions, which, however, contain certain insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49–26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25–00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
