Мета вивчення дисципліни: Formation in students of the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes related to effective (informed, competent) democratic interaction of citizens in society. The course is designed to form basic civic competences of students.
Завдання: The study of an academic discipline involves the formation and development of students' competencies: general: 1. the ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of international relations, public communications and regional studies or in the learning process, which involves the application of theories and methods of political science and the science of international relations and is characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions; 2. ability to abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis; 3. the ability to identify, pose and solve problems; 4. the ability to argue the choice of ways to solve tasks of a professional nature, critically evaluate the results obtained and justify the decisions made; 5. the ability to work both autonomously and in a team; 6. the ability to adapt and act in a new situation, in particular in the international context; 7. interpersonal skills, appreciation and respect for diversity and multiculturalism; 8. the ability to act in a socially responsible manner, to show civic consciousness, to be responsible for the quality of the work performed; professional: 1. knowledge of the role and place of a citizen in a democratic state; 2. know basic human rights and the mechanisms of their protection; 3. the ability to defend one's own rights; 4. the ability to take an active part in the establishment of democracy in the country; 5. to feel personal responsibility for the processes taking place in the state. The learning outcomes of this discipline detail the following learning outcomes: 1. the ability to demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of scientific principles and research methodology in the field of democracy; 2. the ability to demonstrate basic knowledge related to the current state of affairs in Ukraine; 3. the ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the peculiarities of the formation of democracy in the world, democratic principles and ways of their implementation; 4. justify and explain current processes in the sphere of democracy; 5. search for information from various sources to solve specialty problems; 6. think systematically and apply creative abilities to form fundamentally new ideas; 7. evaluate the obtained results and justify the decisions made; 8. work effectively both individually and as part of a team; 9. the ability to argue the choice of mechanisms for solving professional problems, critically evaluate the obtained results and defend the decisions made; 10. the ability to take responsibility for the work performed and achieve the set goal in compliance with the requirements of professional ethics.
Learning outcomes: - Strengthening students' knowledge, skills and aptitudes related to effective public activity; - Understanding the role of power in democracy, citizen rights, processes of human rights protection, and the role played by civil society in monitoring and cooperating with the government, as well as how it allows individuals to achieve their goals individually or collectively; - It is also expected that students develop skills related to effective civic activity; - Skills to critically analyze information, handle issues from different positions, make informed decisions, and work with others to achieve a common goal; - ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of democratic processes; - Ability to freely manipulate acquired facts and concepts to isolate and analyze the problems of democracy in the world, to analyze the peculiarities of the formation of the modern system of democracy in Ukraine.

Summary of the subject: What is democracy? Personality and society. Role of power in a democracy. Forms of government. Assessment of the role of power in solving the problems of society. Assessment methods and criteria: Current control: (100%): recitation, speeches during practical classes, final control test (tests and theoretical questions).

Evaluation of reports at the seminar: 3 points - for a report that demonstrates systematic and in-depth knowledge of the program material, fluency in the conceptual apparatus and knowledge of the content of primary sources, the ability to make independent judgments, assessments, conclusions, participate in the discussion of seminar issues; 2 points - for a report that demonstrates solid knowledge of the program material, mastery of the conceptual apparatus, the ability to make independent judgments, assessments, conclusions; 1 point – for participation in the discussion of seminar issues (questions on the topic to the speakers, expressing judgments, remarks that demonstrate mastery of the program material and the ability to make independent judgments) or for a short supplement that partially complements the main speaker's report. ** Evaluation of an individual research task: The individual task is complete, clear, logical, with a consistent description and presentation of the content of the question. Demonstrates a deep and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the program material, the information is presented clearly and comprehensively with the application of an analytical approach and additional factual and conceptual material to the proposed question, a comparison of different approaches and interpretations is substantiated and carried out, data and sources are well selected, examples are given, qualified references to used literature; the answer is logically consistent and coherent, the conclusions are clearly formulated and well-founded; written competently, in the correct language, certifies the student's speech culture - 10-9 points The work is logical, with a consistent description and presentation of the content of the question. It provides the correct definitions of concepts, the information is presented clearly, succinctly and demonstrates deep knowledge and understanding of the software material, examples are given, qualified references to the literature used; it is consistent and coherent, its conclusions are clearly formulated and well-founded; the individual task is written competently, in the correct language, it certifies the student's speech culture, but the presentation is not comprehensive - 8-7 points. The work demonstrates the student's deep knowledge of a significant part of the material from the assigned task; the student used the elements of critical interpretation; facts are used correctly, and was able to connect them with a separate basic theoretical position, but partial terminological incorrectness, small inaccuracies are allowed; the answer is written correctly, without significant errors - 6-5 points; The work demonstrates the student's knowledge of a significant part of the material from the assigned task; the facts are used correctly, but minor mistakes are made in their interpretation, there is a partial terminological incorrectness, small inaccuracies; written correctly, without significant errors - 4-3 points; Individual work in which the student demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of the essence of the proposed task, ignorance of the basic components of the subject and problematic aspects of the discipline - 2-1 points.

Work with 100-88 points - ("excellent") is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied, in their relationship and resolution eloquence, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
