Завдання: The study of an educational discipline involves the formation of competencies in students of education:
Integral competence: The ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of international relations, public communication and regional studies, foreign policy activities of states, international interactions between states, international organizations and non-state actors, characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions and involves the application of theories of social sciences and special scientific methods of researching problems of international relations.
General competences:
• Ability to work in an international context (ZK5).
In addition:
• Ability to learn and master modern knowledge.
• Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and understanding of professional activity.
• The ability to realize one's rights and responsibilities as a member of society, to realize the values of civil society and the need for its sustainable development, the rule of law, the rights and freedoms of a person and a citizen of Ukraine.
Professional competences:
• 1 – Ability to identify signs and trends of development, understand the nature, dynamics, principles of organization of international relations, public communications and/or regional studies.
• 6 – Ability to apply principles of diplomatic and consular service, diplomatic protocol and etiquette, ability to conduct diplomatic and business correspondence (in Ukrainian and foreign languages).
• 9 – The ability to apply knowledge of the characteristics of the development of countries and regions, features and regularities of global processes and the place of individual states in them to solve complex specialized tasks and problems.
• 11 – Ability to analyze the nature and evolution of international organizations, their place in the system of international relations, the main forms and perspectives of Ukraine's cooperation with them.
• 15 - Ability to analyze features, development trends, forms, methods and tools of state regulation of regional and cross-border cooperation.
Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the academic discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following program learning outcomes:
• 03 - Know the nature of international cooperation, the nature of interaction between international actors, the ratio of state and non-state actors in world politics;
• 04 - Know the principles, mechanisms and processes of ensuring the foreign policy of states, the interaction between foreign and domestic policies, the definition and implementation of the national interests of states on the international arena, the process of forming and implementing foreign policy decisions;
• 06 - Know the nature and character of interactions of individual countries and regions at the global, regional and local levels;
• 09 - Research the problems of international relations, regional development, foreign policy, international communications, using modern political, economic and legal theories and concepts, scientific methods and interdisciplinary approaches, present research results, provide relevant recommendations.
• 19 - Know the features, development trends, forms, methods and tools of state regulation of regional and cross-border cooperation, international cooperation of regions.
• 2.1 - Know the main theoretical approaches to understanding regionalism, the main categories, concepts, technologies and methods of researching regionalism in the field of international relations.

Summary of the subject: The study discipline "Foreign policy of the countries of Western Europe" is an integral component of the cycle of mandatory disciplines of the specialty 291 "International relations, public communications and regional studies" of the first level of higher education (bachelor's), the purpose of which is to acquire systematized, integral knowledge about the peculiarities of formation and implementation of foreign policy courses of the states of Western Europe as subjects of international relations; formation of students' scientifically based ideas about the history of the foreign policy of these states, the role of the foreign policy apparatus in its formation, the place of each of these states in international, regional and subregional organizations, the system of international relations in general and its influence on global political processes; creation of a holistic view of the role of each of the states of the region in the functioning of international organizations of which it is a member and the cooperation of this state with other states, international and regional integration entities and non-governmental organizations.
As a result of studying the discipline, the specialist should know:
- The history of the foreign policy of Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and the microstates of Western Europe from 1949 until now
- Principles and priorities of the foreign policy of Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the microstates of Western Europe.
- The structure of the foreign policy mechanism of the Federal Republic of Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and the microstates of Western Europe.
- Directions of modern foreign policy of Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, microstates of Western Europe.
A trained specialist should be able to:
- justify and explain the current course of foreign policy of the foreign policy of the Federal Republic of Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and the microstates of Western Europe;

Assessment methods and criteria: • Current control (40 %): oral examination, speeches at seminars, writing test.
• Final control (60%): exam (three-level testing).

The report on the subject of the essay is complete, comprehensive, with a comprehensive coverage of the issues proposed in the plan, comprehensive, clear, logical, argumentative, with substantiated theoretical propositions, with a consistent presentation of the content, one's own vision of solving the problem, giving examples and facts of practical application of theoretical provisions The answer demonstrates systematic and in-depth knowledge of the program material, fluency in the conceptual apparatus, the ability to think independently and critically, provide evaluations, justify one's opinion, a wide source base is used.
