Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of studying the discipline is to acquaint students with the theoretical foundations of intercultural studies communication and the formation of appropriate general cultural and professional competences in them and their assimilation by students effective models of intercultural communication in the conditions of globalization of the world.
Завдання: General competences: GC9 - Ability to use information and communication technologies. GC14 - Ability for interpersonal interaction, respect for diversity and multiculturalism. Professional competences: FC1 - Ability to identify signs and trends of development, understand the nature, dynamics, principles of organization of international relations, public communications and/or regional studies. FC8 - Awareness of the national interests of Ukraine on the international arena. FC9 - Ability to analyze the influence of the world economy, international law and domestic politics on the structure and dynamics of international relations and the foreign policy of states. FC10 - Ability to analyze the structure and dynamics of international public communications, identify their impact on the international system, state and public institutions. FC12 - Ability to carry out communication and information-analytical activities in the field of international relations (in Ukrainian and foreign languages). FC14 - Ability to analyze regional and cross-border cooperation, in particular, regional cooperation of the EU, as well as the development of international regional and cross-border cooperation of Ukraine. FC15 - Ability to analyze features, development trends, forms, methods and tools of state regulation of regional and cross-border cooperation. Professional competences of a professional direction Block 01: Modern trends in the development of international relations the ability to use the acquired knowledge and skills to study the nature, sources and institutions of foreign policy of states, the peculiarities of their functioning and interactions based on the comparativist method; the ability to understand and take into account social, legal, cultural, economic factors that influence political decision-making at the domestic and international levels; the ability to analytically perceive the geopolitical dimension of international relations; understanding the specifics of the latest forms of diplomatic activity. Block 02: Regionalism in international relations understanding of regionalism as a development trend of modern international relations, knowledge of basic categories, latest theories, concepts of regionalism; ability to analyze specific facts, phenomena, processes and forecast trends in the field of interregional and cross-border cooperation; understanding of modern ethnopolitical processes and their influence on regional and cross-border cooperation of states; knowledge of the basics of European regional policy; understanding of the basics of the state regional policy of Ukraine, features of its implementation and regulation mechanisms, decision-making technologies in the field of regional and cross-border cooperation; the ability to understand and develop approaches to solving problems and tasks in the field of regional and cross-border cooperation of the Western Ukrainian region; ability to use acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of interregional and cross-border cooperation.
Learning outcomes: Learning Outcomes (LO) LO04. To know the principles, mechanisms and processes of foreign policy, interaction between foreign and domestic policy, definition and implementation in the international arena of national interests, the process of formation and implementation of foreign policy decisions. LO05. To know the nature and mechanisms of international communications. LO06. To know the nature and peculiarities of interactions of individual countries and regions at the global, regional and local levels. LO10. To speak fluently in the native and foreign languages at the professional level required for professional discussion, preparation of analytical and research documents. LO13. To conduct a professional discussion on the problems of international relations, international communications, regional studies, foreign policy, argue their position, respect opponents and their views. LO18. To know the job responsibilities of the diplomatic and consular staff, the rules of diplomatic protocol and etiquette used in professional communications. LO19. To know the features, development trends, forms, methods and tools of state regulation of regional and cross-border cooperation, international cooperation of regions. Professional competencies of professional orientation (PCO) 1.7. understanding the specifics of the latest forms of diplomatic activity. 2.7. ability to use the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of interregional and cross-border cooperation. Autonomy and responsibility (AandV) 2. Ability to realize the need for lifelong learning in order to deepen the acquired and acquire new professional knowledge; 3. Ability to act responsibly to the work performed, to make decisions independently, to achieve the goal of complying with the requirements of professional ethics.
Required prior and related subjects: Previous disciplines: Public Relations; Political science, theory of international relations. Related disciplines: Practicum on political communications.
Summary of the subject: The study discipline "Intercultural Communications" is dedicated to studying the conceptual and methodological foundations of intercultural communications, as well as mastering practical skills of communication and interaction in a modern multicultural environment. The course covers the following issues: the communicative dimension of the theory and practice of intercultural communication, basic categories of culture, the peculiarities of the perception of cultural differences in the process of intercultural interaction, the practice of intercultural communication and the assimilation of a foreign culture, the formation of intercultural competence, applied aspects of intercultural communication, intercultural interaction in modern international relations, global, regional and national strategies of intercultural cooperation. Considerable attention within the framework of the discipline is devoted to the analysis of specific examples of intercultural interaction in the political and business environment. Опис: Subject, object and subject of intercultural communication. Basic theories of intercultural communication. Cultural code as a communicative phenomenon Cultural and anthropological foundations of intercultural communication. Learning another culture and problems of intercultural contacts. Types, types, forms of intercultural communication The problem of understanding in intercultural communication. Stereotypes of perception in intercultural communication. The nature of intercultural conflicts and their types. Means of overcoming intercultural conflicts.
Assessment methods and criteria: Knowledge assessment methods: oral and frontal survey; written survey; selective oral survey; speeches at seminars; tests; protection of practical works; assessment of activity; evaluation of submitted proposals, original solutions, clarifications and definitions; etc.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: 1. Oral and written answers*, participation in the discussion and additions**, according to the plan of practical classes (maximum - 30 points). 2. Individual test work (maximum 10 points) 3. Credit - written component 60 points, (maximum - 60 points)
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
