Завдання: The ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of international relations, social communication and regional studies, foreign policy activities of states, international interactions between states, international organizations and non-state actors, characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions and involves the application of theories of social sciences and special scientific methods of researching problems of international relations.
GC.1 Ability to abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis.
GC 2. Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and understanding of professional activity.
GC 3. Ability to learn and master modern knowledge and apply it in practical activities.
GC4. Ability to communicate in national and foreign languages both orally and in writing, knowledge of translation theory and practice.

PC 1. Knowledge of the nature, dynamics, principles of organization and historical trends in the development of international relations.
PC 2. Ability to understand international relations in various contexts, including political, security, legal, economic, social, cultural and informational.
PC 14. Knowledge of international non-state actors and transnational relations.
FCS2.1 The ability to use theoretical provisions in practice to analyze specific areas of international relations and trends in their development;
• FCS2.2 Ability to describe objects and analyze processes and specific situations in the field of international relations and foreign policy through the prism of historical and geopolitical approaches;
• FCS2.3 The ability to use the acquired knowledge and skills to study the nature, sources and institutions of the foreign policy of states, the peculiarities of their functioning and interactions based on the comparativist method;
• FCS2.4 Ability to understand and take into account social, legal, cultural, economic factors that influence political decision-making at the domestic and international levels;
• FCS2.5 Ability to develop approaches to solving problems and tasks in the field of international relations and foreign policy (in particular, international and domestic conflicts);
• FCS2.7 Understanding the specifics of the latest forms of diplomatic activity.
As a result of studying the academic discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following program learning outcomes:
• РН019 Know the features, development trends, forms, methods and tools of state regulation of regional and cross-border cooperation, international cooperation of regions
• RNVB 2.2 Research and analyze certain phenomena and processes in the field of interregional and cross-border cooperation.
• RNVB 2.3 To know modern ethnopolitical processes, their impact on regional and cross-border cooperation, to be able to analyze the main trends in the development of regional processes in modern international relations.
• RNVB 2.4 Know and understand the basics of modern European regional policy, priorities, models and tools of EU regional development, modern regional integration and disintegration processes.
• RNVB 2.5 Know the basics of state regional policy of Ukraine, features of its implementation and regulatory mechanisms, decision-making technologies in the field of regional and cross-border cooperation.
• RNVB 2.6 Know the specifics of development and regulatory mechanisms of regional and cross-border cooperation of the Western Ukrainian region.
• RNVB 2.7 Carry out an applied analysis of the development of regional and cross-border cooperation.
Learning outcomes:
• acquisition by students of systematized, integral knowledge about ethno-political processes and problems at the national and international levels;
• formation of scientifically based ideas about the evolution and formation of ethnopolitics, its role and place in the system of international relations and influence on world political processes;
• students' acquisition of knowledge about goals, principles, tasks, main directions of ethnopolitics and formation mechanisms;
• acquiring knowledge about the essence and typology of ethnopolitical conflicts; separatist movements;
• assimilation of knowledge about the main regularities of ethnopolitical processes in the world;
• the ability to analyze and identify the main causes and evolution of the most important problems of an ethno-political nature;
• acquiring the skills to analyze the prospects for the development of ethno-political relations in the context of the international situation and to find adequate tools for solving existing and potential ethno-political problems

Co-requisite: Regional and cross-border cooperation of the Western Ukrainian region
Summary of the subject: Theoretical principles of studying ethno-political processes in international relations. Ethno-political processes in the context of globalization. Issues of nationalism in international relations. Nation and ethnic groups as categories of international relations. National minorities and ethno-political regionalization. Ethno-political conflict. Ethno-national identity and politicization of ethnicity. The essence, sources and factors of development of separatist movements. Ethno-political issues in the development of regional and cross-border cooperation. Modern mechanisms for solving ethno-political problems in international relations.

1. Nationalism as a movement and ideology in the international context.

Topic 4. The problem of national minorities and ethnopolitical regionalization: intra-state and regional dimensions.
1. Types of states by ethnic composition of the population.
2. The problem of the national minority in the context of nation-state construction and the constitutional and legal system of the state.
3. The main political and legal tools for solving the problems of national minorities and ethno-political regionalization: federal system and decentralization; national territory autonomy; national and cultural autonomy.
4. Forms of political practices: national state and multiculturalism.
Topic 5. National self-determination and secession. Separatist movements.
1. Historical development of the idea of national self-determination. National self-determination as separation.
2. "Nationalist principle" of self-determination. Contradiction of international legal principles regarding national self-determination.
3. Ethical and political problems and advantages of separation.
4. Sources of separatism. Factors contributing to the emergence of separatist movements.
5. Forms of political response to separatism.
Topic 6. Ethnopolitical conflict.
1. Ethnopolitical conflict as a source of international tension and a threat to international security.
2. Socio-political and irrational nature of the ethno-political conflict.
3. Structural, political, socio-economic and cultural-psychological factors of the emergence and exacerbation of ethno-political conflicts.
4. Management of ethno-political conflicts.
5. The content and forms of external intervention in the settlement of the ethno-political conflict.
Topic 7. Ethnopolitical processes in the conditions of globalization.
1. Globalization processes as a qualitatively new international environment for the development of ethnopolitical relations in the world.
2. Prospects of the disappearance of ethnic identities, nations and nationalism in the modern world.
3. The phenomenon of the "ethnic paradox of modernity".
4. The problem of strengthening ethno-religious identities and growing threats to international order from ethno-religious movements and organizations.
Topic 8. Ethnopolitical issues in the development of regional and cross-border cooperation.
1. Modern mechanisms for solving ethnopolitical problems in international relations.

Assessment methods and criteria: Current control (40%) - oral examination, reports, discussions, writing essays, case-study research, preparation of presentations on a given topic.
Final control (60%) - examination - three-level testing.

The answer is deep, clear, concise and comprehensive, correct definitions of concepts are given, clearly formulated and well-founded - 10-9 points;
The answer demonstrates proper knowledge of a significant part of the material on the question; the student made mistakes and minor inaccuracies, the answer is reasoned, the data and sources are well selected - 8-6 points;
The answer proves the student's sufficient understanding of the material, but also the inability to systematically construct it, provide and justify one's own opinion; the answer is superficial, without convincing examples, reproduces the material of the lecture, is inconsistent, has errors and inaccuracies - 5-3 points;
The answer proves insufficient knowledge and understanding of the main material, contains errors and significant inaccuracies, is poorly argued, with a violation of the sequence of teaching the material, the student cannot build facts in a sufficiently systematic manner; makes significant mistakes when defining concepts; the answer is not independent, inconsistent, incomplete - 2-1 points.
There is no answer or the student demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of the essence of the question, ignorance of the basic components of the subject and problematic aspects of the discipline - 0 points.
The maximum number of points for writing and defending an essay is 10 points.
The abstract is written clearly, succinctly and comprehensively, the conclusions are clearly formulated and well-founded; the essay is written competently, in the correct language, attests to the student's speech culture - 10-7 points;
The information in the essay is presented unsystematically, superficially, without the student's own position; – 6-4 points;
The answer proves insufficient knowledge and understanding of the main material, contains errors and significant inaccuracies - 3-1 points;
The abstract does not correspond to the given topic, the student did not reveal the content of the task, - 0 points.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: Oral (individual and face-to-face) and written (written answers to questions, solving tasks, etc.) surveys according to the plan of practical classes, observation of educational and cognitive activities, evaluation of activity, submitted proposals, original solutions, clarifications and definitions, writing and defending abstracts, presentations , discussion of problematic tasks, settlement (summary of current control).
