Learning outcomes: To know: methodology of social psychological research in the field of marital family relation problems; marital family relation formation types in historical context; specifics of functional role structure of family relations; family life cycle and dynamics of family relations; children upbringing styles and mistakes in a family; family and couple’s conflict reasons; basic forms and methods of psychological assistance for dysfunctional families (couples, parents, children). Be able: to identify dysfunctional and vulnerable families; identify level of psychological health of a family; to conduct diagnostic and educational work with a family; to conduct disciplinary conversations/trainings with high school students, parents in terms of preparation for family life and its issues, prevention and elimination of conflict situation in a family, child upbringing and development in a family; to provide the family members with the recommendations in order to improve psychological microclimate in the family, encourage to satisfy family members’ needs and balanced development.
Required prior and related subjects: • General Psychology; • Age psychology; • Comparative Psychology and Psychophysiology; • Basics of CNS anatomy and physiology of higher nervous activity; • Social Psychology.
Summary of the subject: Marital and family relation formation forms in historical context. Tendencies to alternative family spouse forms of relationship development at present. Functional role structure of family relations. Marital family relationship dynamics. Specifics of family and spousal conflicts. Diagnostics of family relationships. Psycho correctional methods of family relationship. Principles of family counseling. Directions and approaches in studying the psychology of family relationship. Main stages of social psychological research process of family marital relationships. Social psychological research methods of family and marital relationships. Psychological problems of remarriage. Adaption difficulties in adults and children to new family conditions living together. Family structure. Social psychological analysis of roles in family marital relationships. Social psychological characteristics of dysfunctional family: main indicators and reasons for their development. Family disciplinary potential. Psychological aspects of development and socialization of child’s personality in single-parent family. Psychological pedagogical skills in parents. Communicational peculiarities in family.
Assessment methods and criteria: - current control (40%): writing reports from practical works, verbal questioning; - final control (60%, examination):maximal estimation is 100 points.
