Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of studying the discipline is the formation of the necessary competencies in students, their acquisition of knowledge and skills in the study of relay protection of elements of electrical networks - power transmission lines, transformers, autotransformers, tires and capacitor banks, the principles of their implementation, calculation of operating parameters, acquisition of practical skills in debugging and testing individual protection devices, features of their operation, sufficient for successful performance of relevant professional duties.
Завдання: general competences: • ability to abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis (GC1); • the ability to apply knowledge in practical situations (GC2); • ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources (GC5); • the ability to identify, pose and solve problems (GC6); • ability to work in a team (GC7); • ability to work autonomously (GC8). professional competences: • the ability to solve practical problems using automated design and calculation systems (PC1); • the ability to solve practical problems involving the methods of mathematics, physics and electrical engineering (PC2); • the ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems related to the operation of electrical systems and networks, the electrical part of stations and substations, and high-voltage equipment (PC3); • the ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems related to problems of metrology, electrical measurements, operation of automatic control devices, relay protection and automation (PC4); • the ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems related to the problems of production, transmission and distribution of electric energy (PC6); • the ability to perform professional duties in compliance with the requirements of the rules of safety, labor protection, industrial sanitation and environmental protection (PC8); • awareness of the need to constantly expand one's own knowledge about new technologies in electric power, electrical engineering and electromechanics (PC10); • the ability to argue the choice of methods for solving specialized problems, critically evaluate the obtained results and defend the decisions made (PCS3).
Learning outcomes: • knowledge of purpose, functions and properties of devices of relay protection of elements of electric power grid - transmissions lines , transformers, autotransformers, bus and capacitor bank; • knowledge of methods of construction of relay protection devices, basic principles of their implementation; • knowledge of the practical methods of testing and checking individual relay protection devices; • ability to select relay protection devices for the elements of electric power grid; • ability to calculate of operating parameters of the relay protection devices of electric power grid; • ability to check the relay equipment.

Summary of the subject: General information about relay protection devices for electrical network elements, principles of their implementation, calculation of their operation parameters, methods of setting up and checking individual protection devices, features of their operation are presented.
Опис: Protection of transmissions lines above 1 kV. Protecting of transmissions lines of ungrounded or offset neutral grid from single-phase earth faults. Remote protection of transmissions lines. Differential protections of transmissions lines. Transmission line protections with high frequency channels or radio channels (high frequency line protections). Protection of transformers and autotransformers. Ttransformer-feeder protection. Capacitor bank protection. Bus protection.
Assessment methods and criteria: Defense of laboratory work reports, thematic control of knowledge, exam.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • written reports on laboratory and calculation works, oral questioning (30%) • final control - exam: written and oral form (70%)
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
