Learning outcomes: • Know: - general condition, the degree of physical and moral wear and thermal power facilities, built in the USSR; - ways and means of reconstruction or modernization of existing facilities and replace them with new, more economical. • Be able to: - provide technical, technological and economic assessment of power system objects; - propose and implement measures to improve the performance of the power system objects through their reconstruction and modernization.

Summary of the subject: Analysis of the current state of the power system objects Ukraine. Reconstruction and modernization: objectives, main tasks, especially. Basic principles reconstruction and modernization of heat power system. The current state and direction of boiler fabrication. Reconstruction of boilers up to 1 MW. Without flaming burning (without flaming oxidation). Equipment gas-consuming waste heat boiler efficient flue gases. Replacement of heating plants to mini heat power system. Cogeneration technologies for municipal energy needs. The choice of main equipment and heat cogeneration plants schemes at modernization of municipal power. The use of secondary energy resources. The use of electricity to produce heat. Individual and central heating units. The use of solar energy for heating purposes. Local fuels. Devices for the communal energy and housing.
Assessment methods and criteria: • current control (20%): oral examination • final control(80 %): written component(70%), oral component(10%)
