Learning outcomes: - to know the energy balances of power generation; - know the balances of the steam and water, supply of technological steam and water to the consumers; - to know the methods of assessing the effect from changes in the heat schemes; - be able to determine impact of initial and final steam parameters on the performance metrics of thermal plants; - be able to make the energy characteristics of turbine and boiler equipment.
Required prior and related subjects: prerequisites: • Turbines of the thermal power plants, • Thermal power plants.
Summary of the subject: The energy balance of homogeneous energy production. Overflows of energy. Energy balances and indicators of a separate production of heat and electricity at thermal power stations. Energy balances and indicators of a combined production of heat and electricity at thermal power stations. Using the heat of exhaust steam for industrial needs. Methods for assessing the effect of changes in heating schemes. The energy balance of the combined combined-cycle plants. Energy characteristics of the condensing turbines. Energy characteristics of the cogeneration turbines. The impact of initial and final steam parameters on the performance metrics. Energy characteristics of the boilers. The impact of the type and quality of fuel on the technical - economic performance of boilers.
Assessment methods and criteria: • reports from practical work, oral questioning (30%) • learning control (70 %, final control, exam): written-oral form (70%)
