Learning outcomes: - knowledge and understanding of modern theories and methods, and ability to effectively apply them to the development and improvement of systems for measuring the flow and amount of fluids; - knowledge of modern methods of analysis, mathematical modeling of systems for measuring the amount of fluid; - ability to perform studies of hydrodynamic phenomena in flow meters, their influence on the measured flow parameters and the uncertainty of the measured value of flow; - ability to take into account the influence of non-informative parameters on the uncertainty of the flowrate and amount measured values; - the ability to apply advanced mathematical models to optimize the parameters of the system for measuring the amount of energy fluid.

Summary of the subject: The purpose of the discipline is to study the current state and trends of methods and instrumentation for measuring the flowrate and amount of fluids. Consideration of the structure of automated systems of measurement of fluid flowrate. Studying ways to convert the volume of gaseous media to standard conditions and algorithms for their implementation in microprocessor computers and volume correctors. Study of methods to determine the physical properties of flow media wich used in automated measuring systems. Studying the methods for modeling the flowrate measurement systems. Formulation of the problem of system parameters optimization. An example of optimizing the parameters of system based on a differential pressure flowmeter. Methods of analysis of hydro-, gas-dynamic phenomena in pipeline sections and methods of eliminating their influence on the results of measurement of flowrate and amount of fluid. Application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods for modeling and analysis of gas-dynamic phenomena in pipelines and flowmeters. Metrological support of systems for measuring the flowrate and amount of fluid.
Assessment methods and criteria: Written reports on practical works, protection of practical tasks, 100%.
