Strive to preserve the environment and ensure the sustainable development of society.
professional competences: FC09. The ability to assess the impact of industrial facilities and other facilities of economic activity on the environment; FCS1.1. The ability to develop strategic directions for the sustainable development of nature conservation, mining, ecologically depressed territories; FCS1.2. Ability to apply professional knowledge and practical skills to ensure environmental safety of water ecosystems.
Learning outcomes: PR01. To know modern theories, approaches, principles of environmental policy, fundamental provisions of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, biotechnology and professional and applied engineering-technological disciplines for modeling and solving specific environmental problems in the production sphere.
Required prior and related subjects: Chemistry with the basics of biogeochemistry, geology with the basics of geomorphology
Summary of the subject: The discipline "Introduction to the profession" is intended for the professional orientation of first-year students in the chosen direction of training ecologists, strengthening students' motivational interest in acquiring knowledge, abilities and skills from the future profession and quick adaptation of students to university studies.
In the process of studying the discipline "Introduction to the profession", the student must master the key concepts of ecology, know the main milestones in the development of ecological knowledge, get acquainted with the modern directions of the development of ecology, know international organizations that deal with environmental programs and the programs themselves. The student must study the curriculum for the training of environmental specialists, master the structure of specialist training, be able to work with textbooks, have basic skills in writing scientific reports, abstracts, know the structure of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and regional environmental services, the tasks of any of its divisions, from the first steps to form abilities, to make independent decisions about solving environmental problems and tasks.
Опис: Introduction to professional ecological and environmental protection. General ecological situation in the world and Ukraine and prospects for humanity. The strategy of sustainable (balanced) development. The history of the development of science and ecology. Higher education in Ukraine. The organization of educational process in higher educational institutions. Prospects and problems of Ukraine's entry into the European educational space. Comparative characteristics of world and national environmental education. The system of environmental education in Ukraine. Features of research in the field of ecology. The structure and functions of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and its regional and branch services. Fundamentals of structural organization and main tasks of modern ecology. Environmental safety, basic concepts and definitions. Basics of environmental monitoring.
Assessment methods and criteria: - The current control (30%) are workshops, oral interviews and test;

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
