ZK02. Knowledge of the subject area of higher mathematics, physics, chemistry with the basics of biogeochemistry, biology, their critical understanding for professional activity
Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the academic discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
PR01. To know modern theories, approaches, principles of environmental policy, fundamental provisions of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, biotechnology and professional and applied engineering-technological disciplines for modeling and solving specific environmental problems in the production sphere.
As a result of studying the academic discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following program learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
PR01. To know modern theories, approaches, principles of environmental policy, fundamental provisions of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, biotechnology and professional and applied engineering-technological disciplines for modeling and solving specific environmental problems in the production sphere.
Required prior and related subjects: Geology with the basics of geomorphology;
Entry to the profession;
Pedology;
Technologies for the protection of protected areas.
Summary of the subject: General biology - the science of life, the laws of existence of living things, the mechanisms of development and activity of organisms. Knowledge of biological laws and research methods is the basis for training specialists in this specialty, is of great importance in the study of man as a biological and social object, as well as in relation to health practices and the environment.
The purpose of this discipline is to form in students of engineering a holistic view of the general laws of wildlife, the essence of life, its form, structure and functioning of ecological systems, the formation of a systematic approach to studying the laws of human life, mechanisms of autonomic reactions, interaction with the world and features of growth and development.
Опис: Topic 1. Biology - a system of living nature sciences. Concepts of biology and basic biological sciences. Methods of biological research. Levels of organization of life.
Topic 2. Basic biological laws. The influence of limiting factors on the body. The law of the minimum. Law of tolerance (Shelford's law). The law of biogenic migration of atoms (V. I. Vernadskyi). The law of maximum biogenic energy (V.I. Vernadskyi - E.S. Bauer). The law of the energy pyramid (formulated by R. Lindeman), or the 10% rule. The 1% rule. 5 axioms of biology. Basic properties and signs of living organisms. Malthus curve.
Topic 3. Ecological factors of the environment. Abiotic factors. Biotic factors. Anthropogenic factors.
Topic 4. Ecosystems. Biotic structure of the ecosystem. Ecosystems, their structure and types. Biotic potential and environmental resistance.
Topic 5. Metabolism in the body. Metabolic process. General characteristics of plastic exchange. General characteristics of energy exchange. Photosynthesis.
Topic 6. Plant cell. The structure of a plant cell. Vital activity of a plant cell. Cell cycle and cell reproduction.
Topic 7. The importance of living organisms for the environment and humans. The role of bacteria in the environment and in human life. The role of mushrooms in the environment and in human life. The role of protozoa for the environment. The role of plants in the environment and in human life. The role of animals in the environment and in human life.
Topic 8. Nature reserve fund. Scientific maintenance of the Red and Green Books of Ukraine. Rare species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Criteria for creating PZF objects.
Topic 9. The concept of human development. Human health, homeostasis. Factors influencing human health.
Topic 10. The influence of negative factors on human health. The effect of tobacco on the human body. The effect of alcohol on the human body.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control (100%): performance of practical work; execution and protection of reports on laboratory works; execution and protection of control work; test control.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
