Credits: 4.00
Department: Ecological Safety and Nature Protection Activity
Lecturer: Ph.D., prof. Mokry V.I.
Semester: 8 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Learning outcomes: ZN 4. Knowledge of Earth sciences for the study of geophysical and geochemical phenomena and processes occurring in the environment. ZN 5. Knowledge of the legal framework and scientific and methodological principles in the field of technology of preservation, protection and restoration of the environment. Knowledge of the basics of ecological map development, use of factual data obtained by instrumental measurement of pollution levels, topographic and thematic map data, results of aerospace image processing, accounting and statistical, scientific and other materials.
Required prior and related subjects: Environmental monitoring, Landscape ecology, Geoinformation environmental systems.
Summary of the subject: Ecological cartographic models as the most effective tool for learning and describing a constantly changing geographical environment. Use to solve many practical problems related, one way or another, to spatial distribution data, which are used to ensure environmental security and sustainable development of regions. Use of ecological cartographic models in the following areas: - analysis of ecological monitoring data; - creation of digital maps showing the state of the environment; - analysis of changes that have occurred in the study region; - forecast of the consequences of making certain economic decisions. Methods of formalization of spatially distributed information. Spatial data input technologies. Sources of input data for GIS. Cartographic materials. Earth remote sensing data. Data of electronic geodetic instruments. Sources of attribute data. Input digitization technologies. Scanning. Vectorization. Geocoding. Quality control of digital map creation. Thematic mapping. Card diagrams. Software and hardware for visualization of cartographic information. Electronic atlases. GIS viewers. Automated mapping systems.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control (30%) - practical, abstracts, oral examination. Final control (70%) - differentiated test.
