Summary of the subject: I. Purpose and goal of scientific research work 1. INTRODUCTION. THE ROLE OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WORK IN THE MODERN WORLD. A brief overview of the facts of the history of scientific research. Basic concepts and terminologies in scientific research work in the specialty. 2. MAIN STAGES OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WORK. Research planning. Search for information in scientific sources. Determining the state of completion of the obtained results according to the existing plans and the expediency of developing the obtained results and the need to take into account new trends in the development of communication. II. Basic processes of research work 3. GENERATION OF IDEAS. Basic methods of generating ideas and their characteristics. Generating ideas taking into account the possible development of science and technology in the coming years. The emergence of new discoveries, technologies and possible changes in network requirements. Economic feasibility and feasibility of implementing the proposed ideas. Choosing a research topic. 4. THEORETICAL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WORK. Types of theoretical research activity. Scientific research on the specialty based on existing mathematical theories, methods and various models. Implementation of mathematical approaches in scientific research work in the specialty. Scientific research using algorithms and their evaluation. 5. SIMULATION MODELING. Modeling methods for research work in the specialty. Model calibration. Evaluation of adequacy of models. 6. EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH. Types of experimental research by specialty. Experiment planning. Technical aspects of conducting experimental measurements. 7. PROCESSING OF RESULTS OBTAINED. Assessment of the quality of the obtained results, determination of their reliability. Analysis of the obtained results. 8. IMPLEMENTATION OF RESULTS. Stages of implementation of the obtained results in practice. III. Basic mathematical models and methods used in the specialty 9. THEORY OF PROBABILITY. Basic theorems and relations used in research work in this specialty. Probability theory in the measurement process. 10. THEORY OF FORECASTING. Basic forecasting methods. Prediction and expectation of results. Fractals. 11. OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS. Examples of optimization. Concept of objective function. Linear programming. Transport problem. Simplex method. Assessment methods and criteria: Protection of laboratory work in the form of a survey based on completed reports. Examination control written component (individual tasks - theoretical questions and problem solving), oral component (survey based on the list of questions to be studied and submitted for semester control).
