Learning outcomes: Students are acquainted with the general philosophical principles of scientific research, know the logic of conducting research and principles of constructing a research plan in accordance with the priorities set. Knowledge of methods of analysis and estimation of the probabilities of scientific hypotheses, methods of generalization and able to carry out their verification.

Summary of the subject: The essence of scientific knowledge (methods and methodology of scientific knowledge and scientific research, classification of methods of scientific knowledge) Scientific problem (statement, formulation, selection of objective and subjective facts, classification of scientific problems) Scientific hypothesis (nomination and justification, definition and structure, hypothesis as a form of scientific knowledge and method of its development) Scientific theory: its importance for scientific research, the definition of scientific theory, the structure of theoretical knowledge, the functions of the theory, constructive and fundamental theories. Levels and methods of scientific research: the concept and content of levels of scientific research, empirical and theoretical levels; methods of collecting and generalizing empirical information; methods of full and selective observation. Experiment and its peculiarities in technical scientific researches, the significance of experimental research in scientific knowledge. Methods of comparison and measurement. Meaning and specificity of measuring methods in radio electronics, telecommunications and electronic engineering. Computer processing of measurement results Methods of theoretical generalization of empirical information: general logical methods of scientific research (analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, induction, deduction, analogy) Theoretical methods of scientific research: formalization, idealization, axiomatic method, hypothetically deductive; historical and logical methods of scientific research, the dialectical unity of the historical and logical. Basic principles of preparing, registration and presentation of qualifying works Basic rules for the preparing, design and writing of scientific papers
Assessment methods and criteria: Semester exam: current control - 30 points, testing - 30 points, tasks - 40 points
