Abstract: ANNOTATION Semenenko T.G., Khomko N. Y. Ensuring environmental safety on railways by ecotones of protective type. Master’s thesis. – National University "Lviv Polytechnic", Lviv, 2020. Extended annotation. The construction of the ground and other objects takes place mainly under the influence of geomechanical and ecological transformations of the natural environment with relatively insignificant chemical pollution of soils and natural waters. The main pollutants from the activities of railway transport enterprises are nickel, zinc, copper and petroleum products, however, the railway is a source of a wide range of other heavy metals. Petroleum products are usually concentrated in the body of the embankment or near it. A significant part of the railway tracks, namely more than 40.6% is located in the administrative regions, which are in conditions of karst threats. Railway tracks crossing the territory of Donetsk, Luhansk, Lviv, Volyn, Mykolaiv and Rivne regions are especially dangerous in terms of karst threats. The results of the estimates also show that about 19.8% of the length of the railway tracks cross the territory of areas where flooding is likely. Zhytomyr, Donetsk, Rivne, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions are especially dangerous. In addition, 11.7% of railway tracks are located in the regions where landslides can be intensified – primarily Kharkiv, Luhansk, Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The object of research is the process of establishing the role of EST in reducing the acoustic load on the railway tracks of Lviv Railway. The subject of the study is the level of noise reduction on the railway tracks of Lviv Railway, their relationship and assessment methods. The purpose of the study – in this paper it is proposed to estimate the structural parameters of ecotones of protective type (EZT) in ensuring environmental safety in the adjacent agrocenoses and residential areas and derive equations that allow to calculate its reduction in rail transport. Key words: ecological safety, noise, ecotones of protective type, forest plantations, railway transport. References. Alekseev SV, Kadyskina EN Medico-biological aspects of noise pathology prevention.
