Abstract: The master’s qualification work is devoted to the topic of self-identification of young people in social networks, which is especially relevant today, because social networks have taken an important place in the lives of young people. The work consists of three sections, which contain theoretical and empirical data: the first section of the bachelor’s thesis analyzes the concept of "identification", "self-identification" in various socio-humanitarian sciences, identifies the specifics of understanding the phenomenon in sociology; in the second section the peculiarities of virtual self-presentation, self-identification in social networks were investigated; in the third, empirical section, the results of research on the topic conducted in Ukraine, in the world and own research using questionnaires and in-depth interviews conducted under the empirical research program (Appendix A) on "Self-identification in social networks of young people in Lviv" were analyzed. Study object of the master’s thesis (according to the criterion of the general problem) is the process of self-identification of a young person. Study object of the master’s thesis (according to the criterion of the bearer of the problem) are young people (aged 17 - 29 years) living in Lviv. Scope of research of the master’s thesis is the peculiarities of the process of self-identification of young people in the virtual space of social networks. Goal of research of the master’s thesis: to analyze the work of scientists who have studied identity and through their own empirical research to determine the place of social networks in the process of self-identification of young people in a virtual environment.
