Abstract: The issue of demography is considered one of the most important for most countries of the world, in particular Ukraine, where the statistics of population change in recent years are disappointing. This war could be especially demographically destructive for Ukraine due to the pre-war situation: Ukraine has already seen a decrease in population, low birth rate and low life expectancy compared to its European neighbors. And the modern Russian-Ukrainian war, which has been going on since 2014, has caused an even greater influx into the demographic process in Ukraine. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine may decide the tragic fate of the demographic situation in the country. Although it is not known how this war will develop, when and how it will end, this is already the essence of the demographic problem of Ukraine, in particular, given the Russian ambitions to seize part of the Ukrainian territory [1]. Study object – demographic changes in Ukraine in 2014-2022. Scope of research – the influence of the Russian-Ukrainian war of the 2014- 2022 years. on demographic processes in Ukraine. Goal of research – to study the influence of the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2014- 2022. the demographic composition of the population of Ukraine. In order to analyze demographic statistics during the war, a set of demographic methods was used with the help of which it was discovered, the process of population changes and trends of reproduction of the population of Ukraine during the war and how war affects changes in socio-economic indicators. The work found that the population of Ukraine began to decline since its independence since 1991. And after analyzing the population of Ukraine for 2014-2022 years, it was established that the Russian-Ukrainian war since 2014-2022. affected the population decline and demographic crisis in Ukraine caused by the annexation of Crimea by Russia, partial occupation of Donbass, emigration and low birth rate, led to a decrease in the country’s population by more than 4% between 2014. and 2022 [2]. History has shown that the demographic consequences of war will not only be significant during the war itself, but will remain influential for decades to come. After analyzing the infusion of the Russian-Ukrainian war of the 2014-2022 years. on the demographic process in Ukraine, it was found that the war added new factors that further worsen the demographic situation in Ukraine. First of all, the war caused a large number of deaths and injuries both among the military and among civilians, fertility rates are falling, and mortality rates are increasing, high internal mobility. One of the consequences of the war is the large-scale migration of the population of Ukraine abroad, the vast majority of migrants are women and children. Russia also illegally exports Ukrainian citizens to the Russian Federation from the temporarily occupied territories. Domestic migration increased compared to 2014. It is also investigated that Russia uses the tools of total war, terror and genocide for the renewed destruction of the Ukrainian population [3]. So, the short-term demographic consequences of the war in Ukraine are already there, and they are devastating for a country that was already fragile in terms of its demographic profile.
