Modeling the design of a weighing mechanism for a belt conveyor in the CAD system environment

Abstract: The essence is as follows: To study the existing weighing mechanisms, to identify the shortcomings of the existing structures and to design an improved model of weighing roller supports. What factors are decisive in this problem. It is obvious that it is necessary to determine which loads act on the structure and to determine which elements cannot withstand these loads. This master’s thesis is devoted to the consideration of this problem in terms of conveyor belt weighing equipment. It should be emphasized that the issues that will be considered in this paper, especially regarding weighing equipment, are universal. They have practical application for various industries where material transportation is used. Research object: Weighing mechanism for a belt conveyor. Subject of research: Parameters of the weighing roller support. Study of loads on the mechanism The purpose of the research: study of the impact of loads on the existing roller supports, determination of the cause of the structure’s destruction, improvement of problematic elements of the structure. The first section of the work describes general information about belt conveyors. The structural elements are listed. The principle of operation is described In the second section of the work, the design of the existing weighing mechanism is considered, stress from loads is investigated. In the third section of the work, taking into account the shortcomings of the previous design, an improved mechanism was developed. It was also investigated what stresses arise from different types of loads. In the fourth section of the work, an economic evaluation of the received design solution is carried out. First, the master’s work was planned and costs were calculated. Further, calculations of operational costs for the received design solution were performed and consumption prices of the design solution were determined. The term of development and implementation of the project solution will last 89 days, and the costs of its development and implementation will amount to UAH 39,150. This project solution will have a term of use of 5 years. Annual costs for the operation of the project solution will amount to UAH 39,150. The project solution will have a consumption price for the developer organization of UAH 129.9. per day and for the buyer organization - UAH 132. per day during the entire period of use. The project solutions obtained in the work and relevant studies indicate their feasibility and practical use. The conducted economic calculations testify to the economic efficiency of their implementation and further application. Key words: belt conveyor, weighing mechanism, roller support.
