Abstract: Kateryna ROZLUTSKA, Serhiy HUHLYCH (supervisor). Possibilities and advantages of implementing the European Green Course in agriculture. Master’s qualification work. - Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv, 2023. Extended abstract The war on the territory of Ukraine radically changed the life of every Ukrainian man and woman, and the negative consequences spread far beyond the borders of our country. The threat to food security is one of them. Blockage of ports, dependence on agrochemicals and destruction of critical infrastructure lead to crisis situations in the agricultural sector[1]. This shows that the current agro-food system, which is based on long supply chains, is not sustainable, and the climate crisis (pandemic, and war, etc.) has shown a low ability to adapt and ensure food security. However, this is not a direct consequence of the war or the epidemic, because even before the full-scale offensive, the agriculture of Ukraine had considerable problems with compliance with ecological aspects The climate crisis is one of the main problems of the 21st century. Despite this, it is customary to believe that any climate initiatives harm economic development and create problems for business at various levels[2]. In fact, in terms of sustainable development, it is climate-neutral initiatives that drive the creation of a sustainable and competitive economy. The most difficult in this matter is the transition from "carbon" to "green" industry, especially for developing countries with economies oriented to the export of raw materials[3]. To solve this problem, members of the European Parliament recently presented the European Green Deal, an initiative that aims to turn Europe into the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The purpose of this work is a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the implementation of the European Green Course (EGC) directly on agriculture. The object of the study is the range of factors affecting ecological safety, the environment, and biodiversity, caused by the implementation of the basic principles of EEC in agriculture. The subject of the study is the future changes in the ecological situation throughout the territory of Ukraine, taking into account the implementation of various stages of the environmental protection system. Among the main points of the green course is a response to the challenge of global climate change and pollution; positioning the EU as a global leader in the development of the circular economy; transition to a sustainable food system; creation of competitive conditions for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, etc. With this in mind, let’s consider how the EWC should change the ecological and economic development of states, and what prospects and threats it carries for Ukraine. Key words: environmental protection, biodiversity, climate change, environmental safety, nitrate pollution, agriculture, carbon certificate.
