Abstract: The purpose of the work is to clarify the features and specifics of the functioning of Zhytomyr media as an integral part of the Ukrainian information space. This master’s thesis examines the peculiarities of the functioning of the information space in Ukraine and Zhytomyr region, the history and modernity of Zhytomyr media, their issues and emphases. The paper identifies the main stages of the formation of Zhytomyr media during the period of Ukraine’s independence. We also found out the role of the Zhytomyr media in the general framework of the information space of Ukraine. In addition, we analyzed the peculiarities of the work of the Zhytomyr media during the war based on local online sites and print media. We also found out the problems of the Zhytomyr media and ways to solve them, as well as how Zhytomyr residents themselves relate to the media. The study concluded that it became more difficult for Zhytomyr media to work during the full-scale invasion due to thorough information checks and many bans from the Armed Forces and local authorities to avoid publishing information that could harm the course of hostilities at the front. Through the analysis of the content of Zhytomyr media and a survey, the author identified their problems and peculiarities of the attitude of Zhytomyr residents to them. In particular, the problems were classified. Also, having learned the facts about the creation of the first TV studio in Zhytomyr, it became clear that regional journalism is currently very underestimated, but it still made a great contribution to the development of Ukrainian journalism even in such difficult years during the collapse of the USSR and the declaration of independence of our state. The analysis of media representation in Zhytomyr is relevant due to the constant dynamics of the news landscape and the growing role of the media in shaping public opinion.
