Abstract: Photography plays a significant role in society, influencing various aspects of human life. It occupies a special place in the modern world, being an integral part of our daily lives. Photography is the main tool in the media industry. Magazines, newspapers, news websites, and television actively use photographs to illustrate news and articles. Photographs help not only to attract attention but also to convey emotional and informational messages. In the ever-evolving landscape of modern media, photography plays a key role. From the printed pages of the first newspapers to the dynamic realms of digital platforms, photography is constantly adapting, influencing and being influenced by the changing media environment. Social media has dramatically changed the way we share and experience photos. Today, millions of people post and view photos every day, creating a global visual culture. Photos on social media have become an important means of self-expression, allowing each individual to share their moments and experiences with a wide audience. The journey of photography in the media began in the nineteenth century, revolutionizing the way stories were told. Initially, photography was a tool for documentation, providing a visual complement to textual information. As technology advanced, the versatility and accessibility of photography increased, making it a cornerstone of journalism. Photography began to develop almost immediately after its invention. Already in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, photographers began to look for new ways of expression, using different techniques and styles. As a result, modern photography encompasses many genres and trends. Portrait photography allows us to convey the character and emotions of people, landscape photography – the beauty of nature and urban landscapes, and street photography – the everyday life of cities. Abstract photography, a play with colors, shapes, and light, allows you to create unique and expressive images. Many other types and genres of photography have made a significant contribution to the development of photography. Technological advances continue to redefine the role of photography in the media. High-resolution cameras, drones, and artificial intelligence software have expanded the possibilities for capturing and using images, offering new ways of storytelling and engaging audiences. The role of photography in modern media is multifaceted and constantly evolving. It has the power to inform, persuade, and inspire. As a storytelling tool, advertising medium, and social media language, photography is an integral part of modern media. It not only captures the world as it is but also shapes the way we understand and interact with it. With the development of technology, the potential of photography in the media is only expanding, opening new opportunities for research and self-expression.
